Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 Tested: Benchmarks and Specs

In Short
  • We ran multiple benchmark tests on the OnePlus Nord CE 4, which is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset.
  • The Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 CPU performance is decent, but the GPU shows great stability even under high stress.
  • The Snapdragon X63 5G modem also performed quite well, achieving a download speed of 444 Mbps.

Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 five months back in November 2023, and so far, only a few devices have been launched with the chipset. Now, OnePlus has joined in and launched the OnePlus Nord CE 4 with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset. So, today, we benchmark the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 on popular tests like Geekbench, CPU Throttling test, AnTuTu, and more.

Snapdragon 7 Gen 3: Geekbench 6

The Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 packs an octa-core Kryo CPU, and it is fabricated on TSMC’s 4nm process node. It packs a single performance core (Cortex-A715) clocked up to 2.63GHz, the same 3x Cortex-A715 cores clocked at 2.4GHz, and 4x efficiency cores (Cortex-A510) clocked at 1.8GHz. There is no Cortex-X series prime core on the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 which is somewhat disappointing.

Geekbench scoreSnapdragon 7 Gen 3
Single-core1,144
Multi-core3,072

That said, the CPU performance is respectable. We ran the Geekbench 6 CPU test on the OnePlus Nord CE 4 which is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 and it achieved 1144 in the single-core test and 3072 in the multi-core test.

Snapdragon 7 Gen 3: AnTuTu Benchmark

On the AnTuTu benchmark test, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 on the OnePlus Nord CE 4 achieved a total score of 8,49,360 points. It got 2,73,078 in the CPU test; 2,58,169 in the GPU test; 1,47,824 in the memory test; and 1,70,289 in the user experience text. For a mid-range device, this is a great score and the Adreno 720 GPU has also performed well.

CPU2,73,078
GPU2,58,169
Memory1,47,824

Snapdragon 7 Gen 3: CPU Throttling Test

In the CPU Throttling test, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC on the OnePlus Nord CE 4 did a great job. It throttled to 89% (higher is better) of its max performance which means the CPU operated close to its capacity. There are no visible drops in performance. Since the chipset doesn’t have a high-performance prime core and the clock speeds are below 2.6GHz, the CPU sustains a high workload while maintaining efficiency.

Snapdragon 7 Gen 3: 3DMark Wild Life Stress Test

While the Adreno 720 GPU on the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 is not a powerhouse GPU, it performed well on our 3DMark Wild Life Stress test. It got the best loop score of 5452 and the lowest loop score of 5429. In terms of stability, it stood at a whopping 99.6%. It means the GPU on the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 can perform consistently even under severe load.

Snapdragon 7 Gen 3
Best loop score5,445
Lowest loop score5,425
Stability99.6%

Snapdragon 7 Gen 3: AI Benchmark

We also did the AI Benchmark test on the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. The Hexagon NPU got a decent score of 539 in the AI performance test.

Snapdragon 7 Gen 3: 5G Speed Test

In our 5G speed test, the Snapdragon X63 5G modem on the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 again performed well. It clocked a top download speed of 444 Mbps and an upload speed of 30 Mbps on an Airtel 5G network.

Snapdragon 7 Gen 3
Download Speed444 Mbps
Upload Speed30 Mbps

So, that concludes our discussion on the benchmark scores of the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. While the mid-range chipset is not the best 7-series chipset from Qualcomm right now, it’s quite balanced and offers good efficiency. So are you going to pick the OnePlus Nord CE 4 over the Nothing Phone (2a)? Let us know in the comments below.
