Xiaomi’s hype train for the upcoming Redmi Note 5 is moving fast! While the launch is scheduled for February 14, Xiaomi has now announced some more details about the availability of the Redmi Note 5.
Since the launch of the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus in China, there has been a lot of speculation surrounding when it will hit India. While previous reports have claimed that Xiaomi might shelve the Redmi Note line altogether, it is highly unlikely, considering the success of the Redmi Note 4 in India.
Recently, domestic etailer Flipkart also joined the hype train by a posting a tweet which revealed that the upcoming Xiaomi device will be a Flipkart exclusive. The tweet states: “Looks like everyone is excited about @XiaomiIndia’s all-rounder that’s a 5/5. Tune in to Flipkart on 14th Feb, 12 noon to find out who it is.”
While the company hasn’t confirmed that it’ll be launching the Redmi Note 5, it has been dropping hints about the device. The Flipkart page which is linked in the aforementioned tweet also includes a video which highlights the upcoming device as a significantly improved version of its predecessor with five distinct qualities.
Flipkart has previously been the exclusive online retail partner for the Redmi Note 3 and the Redmi Note 4, which adds to the rumor that the upcoming device will also be the same. Additionally, the event page on Mi.com included a JavaScript code that mentions a subdirectory titled ‘redminote5’, which further strengthens the claims.
As of now, Xiaomi has revealed no information regarding the device’s specifications and pricing, but previous rumors suggest that the Redmi Note 5 will feature a 5.99-inch FHD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone will allegedly be powered by a Snapdragon 636 processor coupled with 3/4GB RAM and 32/64GB internal storage. In terms of software, the Redmi Note 5 is expected to run the latest version of MIUI based on Android Oreo.
