Marvel Rivals Season 8 is yet another solid season in the history books. Devil Dinosaur and Cyclops, the two latest heroes, have been wonderful additions to the ever-growing hero roster. And now it’s time to meet the next set of heroes, as a new season is right around the corner. Marvel Rivals Season 9 Release Date

Marvel Rivals Season 9 will release on July 10, 2026, at 9 AM UTC (2 AM PDT or 5 AM EDT), as confirmed by the Marvel Rivals Season 8.5 roadmap. All ongoing Marvel Rivals events (except the Marvel Rivals summer festival events) end this week, as the ninth season is set to arrive with lots of new content.

After a long time, devs revealed their plans for Marvel Rivals Season 9 in a special live stream. A new hero, battle pass, and events will be released at the launch of Season 9. Following the new season’s release, a new map and modes, including Avengers: Age of Ultron, revealed in the Path to Doomsday roadmap, will be added to the game down the road.

Marvel Rivals Season 9 New Heroes: Jubilee and The Hood

As always, NetEase Games remained dead silent about the new heroes in Marvel Rivals Season 9 until the release week. It’s now official that Jubilee and The Hood from the Marvel universe are joining the Marvel Rivals roster in the upcoming season.

Marvel Rivals Jubilee Abilities and Role

Jubilee is confirmed as the launch hero for Marvel Rivals Season 9. Since Devil Dinosaur joined as a Vanguard and Cyclops as a Duelist in the previous season, Jubilee is the next Strategist in the game. The Lumikinetic Explosive Light Blasts, which she simply calls her ‘fireworks’, can be used both to heal allies and inflict damage on opponents. So, look forward to a fireworks- or explosive-based abilities kit for Jubilee in the upcoming Marvel Rivals Season.

The devs already teased Jubilee’s arrival in gallery cards and descriptions. In the Marvel Rivals Season 8.5 gallery card (A Murder Foretold), players quickly spotted a hooded character blowing into a bubblegum.

The lore description stated a character capable of unleashing fireworks: “You bring the divine justice… I’ll bring the fireworks.” There is only one Marvel character known for blowing pink bubbles while setting off fireworks: Jubilee. She is the horseman, or should I say horsewoman, of Apocalypse.

Marvel Rivals The Hood Abilities and Role Leaks

The Hood’s arrival was first hinted at on the cover of Marvel Rivals Infinity Comic #43. Then, his iconic cape was spotted by players in the Lower Manhattan map trailer. Then he was teased on the Marvel Rivals Season 8.5 gallery card, A Murder Foretold.

While Apocalypto is the center of attention, if you look closely, you can spot The Hood wearing his signature red cape on the left side. The lore also mentioned a man wearing the ‘cloak of Oblivion’. Therefore, The Hood will likely be the next character to join the game following Jubilee, possibly as a Vanguard.

The Hood is speculated to be an aggressive tank wielding his iconic dual pistols. Like all the Vanguards in the game, he will feature some shield. In addition, he is expected to summon clones and transform into a demon upon activating his ultimate ability.

Apart from the hints and teases, both The Hood and Jubilee have been on the list of leaked Marvel Rivals characters for a long time. So, it’s about time these characters make their long-awaited debut in Marvel Rivals Season 9.

Black Widow Character Rework

NetEase Games has finally answered the prayers of Black Widow mains. Natasha Romanoff is finally getting her long-awaited rework in Marvel Rivals Season 9. With massive improvements to her kit, Black Widow is now an aggressive flanking Duelist in the game. It should be noted that this isn’t just a minor rework. Black Widow has received a new ultimate, enhanced primary attacks, and several new abilities that significantly altered her playstyle.

Marvel Rivals Season 9 Thebes Map Details

Thebes, the main city on the Nile in Egypt, is one of the major locations in the Moon Knight comics. At the end of 2024, datamined details suggested that a new map based on Thebes might be added to the game soon. Finally, Thebes is getting added as a new Convoy map in Marvel Rivals Season 9.

Therefore, a new map based on ancient Egypt would be a breath of fresh air for Marvel Rivals players. Sadly, the new Thebes map won’t be available at the launch of Season 9 and will be added in a separate update on July 24.

Team-Up Ability Overhaul

Since the current team-up abilities in Marvel Rivals have grown stale lately, devs have completely revamped the system in Marvel Rivals Season 9. Starting next season, every hero will have two team-up abilities. Players need to choose between the two in the spawn room. As the team-up anchor buff system has been eliminated, players can perform the team-up without having the respective hero on the team.

However, if the right partner is on your team, then the team-up ability automatically gains a powerful enhanced effect. More original team-up abilities have been added to the game, and a few classics such as Ammo Overload and Metallic Chaos have also returned.

With the introduction of the new team-up system, all the heroes in the Marvel Rivals roster had to be fine-tuned. Marvel Rivals Season 9 Battle Pass

The Age of Heroes is coming to an end. The Marvel Rivals Season 9 battle pass called The Faith-Harvesting Machine will feature exotic skins inspired by ancient Egypt. Namor, Mister Fantastic, Ultron, Mantis, Deadpool, Elsa Bloodstone, Iron Man, Venom, and Cloak and Dagger are the lucky heroes getting new Egyptian skins in the latest Battle Pass.

New Regenerative Shield Mechanic

Devs are introducing a new Regenerative Shield mechanic for highly mobile flanking characters in Marvel Rivals Season 9. All these characters’ base health has been reduced, and they now get an additional Regenerative Shield. You can easily spot the Regenerative Shield, highlighted in green on the health bar.

If the diving heroes can stay alive without taking any damage for five seconds, then the lost health will be regenerated automatically (20% of max health per second). The introduction of the Regenerative Shield mechanic now gives an advantage to the dive Vanguards and Duelists. So, we will see a major shift in the Marvel Rivals ban rates next season.

As per the latest leaks, several Marvel Rivals characters will receive special skins based on their comics as well as original skins in Season 9. Avengers: Age of Ultron Event

Lastly, we now have a release date for the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron event. Earlier, NetEase made changes to the Avengers event roadmap and postponed the Age of Ultron event to July. It is now confirmed that the Avengers: Age of Ultron event will be added to the game on July 30, 2026. Players can battle Ultron in Avengers Tower and head to Times Square for a new series of themed events.

Since the Avengers: Age of Ultron event was postponed to late July, we can expect new skins for the Avengers as well as Ultron later this month.
