Marvel Rivals is kicking off year two with a massive Season 6 update that’s bringing some major changes to the game. Of course, the headlines are all about Deadpool, the hero-shooter’s first triple-role character who will likely shift the meta in a major way. Besides this, you can look forward to a new Convoy map set in the Collector’s Museum, as well as the long-awaited introduction of an in-game photo mode. For a complete look at all the content, here are the early patch notes for Marvel Rivals Season 6.

Marvel Rivals Season 6 Early Patch Notes

While the official Marvel Rivals Season 6 patch notes carrying the full list of changes are yet to be released, we’ve compiled all the essential details revealed so far below:

Deadpool Joins the Battle as Triple Role Meta Hero

The Merc with a Mouth is finally joining the Rivals roster on January 16, and he’s set to shake things up in a big way. Deadpool is the game’s first triple-role character, and players will be able to switch between his Strategist, Duelist, and Vanguard movesets in the spawn area.

Speaking of which, his abilities largely revolve around his katanas and twin pistols, but each role brings at least one unique skill. For instance, as a Duelist, Deadpool is a DPS machine that can turn enemies into mincemeat through a flurry of sword slashes. Switch to Vanguard, and he’ll be granted a Unicorn Plushie that can serve as a protective shield for your team. On the Strategist front, Wilson can turn enemy damage into healing hitpoints, giving his kit a sustain element.

That’s not at all, as Deadpool is also the game’s first character with an RPG-like levelling system. During matches, the character’s XP bar will gradually fill up, and eventually, you can upgrade one of his abilities using the handy comic book menu.

On top of this, his Ultimate also has a unique mechanic attached to it, as a combat grade determines the move’s potency. The fancier you fight, the higher the grade will be, so you’ll want to pull off the cleanest combos to access the most powerful version of his Ult.

All this and more make Deadpool arguably the most versatile Hero in Marvel Rivals so far. It’s hard to imagine Wade Wilson not being at least a little bit broken at launch.

New Convoy Map

Museum of Contemplation is the new map joining Marvel Rivals in Season 6. The Convoy arena is based on the Collector’s Museum, so it’ll likely carry some cool easter eggs for fans of the comics. In the brief glimpses at the map so far, we’ve already spotted an appearance from Cosmo the Spacedog, who famously starred in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The devs have teased that there are some “monsters” lurking in the museum, so perhaps we’ll see more of the Collector’s creatures when it launches on January 29.

Hero Nerfs and Buffs

On the balancing front, the devs are making Strategists slightly less powerful to discourage solo play, while improving aggressive characters such as Blade. Namor is also receiving a much-needed rework with his base kit now being more effective, but at the cost of his Team-Ups losing power. Here are all the Heroes getting buffs in Season 6:

  • Doctor Strange
  • Blade
  • Hulk
  • Captain America
  • Iron Fist
  • Cloak & Dagger

And now, here are the characters who’ll need to brace for some nerfs:

  • Angela
  • Daredevil
  • Gambit
  • Invisible Woman

New Team-Ups

Just like every season, new Team-Ups will be joining the game, while two existing ones are being tweaked. The new abilities include:

  • Parker Power Up: Spider-Man and Peni Parker combine to grant the former a Web Bomb. If the bomb is thrown before the countdown, it’ll dish out damage and apply Spider-Tracers to enemies in the vicinity. If the bomb is not thrown, it’ll instead give Spider-Man a Web Cluster charge and bonus health.
  • Mr. Pool’s Interdimensional Toy Box: With Deadpool being the anchor, Jeff the Land Shark receives a new throwable toy that creates a visual interference effect for enemies caught in its radius.

The Team-Ups getting changes include The Ever Burning Bond, which is being temporarily retired, while the Rocket Network sees Peni Parker make her exit.

We’ve got an Eddie Brock-themed look for Venom, a Winter Soldier-inspired makeover for Wolverine, and a colorful 70s Discotheque attire for Invisible Woman, among others. Here are the skins present in the Battle Pass:

  • ‘Prism Parade’ Invisible Woman
  • ‘Space Corsair’ Venom
  • ‘Queen of Wakanda’ Storm
  • ‘King of Wakanda’ Black Panther
  • ‘Galactic Gladiator’ Mantis

  • ‘Winter Soldier’ Wolverine
  • ‘Vampire Slayer’ Blade

New Jeff Mini Pass Event

Jeff is once again the center of attention on the events front. After trying his hand at a 9-t0-5, the Land Shark is now starring in the Whac-A-Jeff event, which will kick off on January 16. By participating, players will be able to unlock the ‘8-Bit Bash’ Jeff costume for free alongwith its cosmetics.

Times Square Map Changes and Photo Mode

Fresh off a memorable New Year’s ball drop, the Times Square map is now getting a 1v1 duel arena known as the Clobberin’ Club. Set to release on January 29, the club will be a new area on the map where players will be able to compete in one-on-one duels. By paying a few extra Units, they can also choose to have their fights get broadcast on the big Times Square screen.

After countless requests from fans, Marvel Rivals Season 6 will finally bring a proper photo mode to the game. This will be limited to the non-combat areas of the Times Square map, and will feature a range of filters.

New Lord Icons and Proficiency Rewards

The upcoming update will expand individual Hero progression by adding extra reward pages for every character. This means the Hero Proficiency level cap for all characters has been increased, alongside a selection of new rewards that include animated icons, Units, namplates, and many others.

Upcoming Modes and Zombies Retired

The 18v18 Resource Rumble mode is officially being shelved temporarily as the devs plan to iterate on the idea and return with something better. On the PvE front, Marvel Zombies is being removed permanently, although Netease plans on introducing a new mode to fill its void in the first half of 2026.

Accessories, College Perks, and More Rewards
