- Jujutsu Kaisen has officially become the most popular new-generation anime, as per the Guinness World Record.
- The dark fantasy anime beat the competition, including One Piece and Attack on Titan, to acquire the top spot.
- The primary viewership of the anime series mostly came from the worldwide youth, as it gathered 71.3% of Gen Z viewers.
Gege Akutami’s brainchild Jujutsu Kaisen is totally a stunner, so it’s no wonder it has officially become the most popular anime. However, it’s shocking that JJK has dethroned some of the most celebrated anime shows like One Piece and Attack on Titan to achieve this fear. These two series have been sitting on the top spot for a long time, but now, the viewership and demand for these anime shows look nothing compared to Jujutsu Kaisen.
Jujutsu Kaisen’s first season was great, but it was the second season that burst the anime into a new tier of popularity. MAPPA’s spectacular adaptation of the Shibuya arc helped JJK become the most celebrated anime series of all time.
For a while, everyone was talking about Attack on Titan, but now that the anime series has officially ended, it was time for another series to take the lead. One Piece, on the other hand, is not a seasonal anime and has more than 1,000 episodes, making it extremely hard for new viewers to catch up with the anime. And honestly, after AoT and One Piece, if there’s an anime that deserves to be on the top, it’s very well MAPPA’s Jujutsu Kaisen.
Furthermore, the JJK manga also keeps on getting intriguing with each chapter. Gojo vs Sukuna was one of the most awaited fights of the last decade, and let’s just say Gege Akutami did justice to their battle. On the one hand, the anime series showed Gojo getting sealed in the Prison Realm, and on the other hand, the manga series reached new heights by showcasing Gojo’s fight with the King of Curses.
In the recent manga chapters, Akutami also brought some other fan-favorite characters to lock horns with the evil entity. All of these manga events motivated even more viewers to catch up to the anime, and well, it worked big time for the series.
As stated on the Guinness World Record’s official website, Parrot Analytics, the data science firm, has confirmed that Jujutsu Kaisen has successfully surpassed the viewership of an average TV series by 71.2 times in terms of the global demand rating.
It has also been revealed that the data science company calculates the ‘demand ratings’ by analyzing the viewership, engagement, and attention for a TV show by the worldwide audience. Besides that, the Guinness World Record states that JJK has accumulated viewership mainly from the worldwide youth. If we talk in numbers, the anime series gathered 71.3% of the Gen Z viewers, while One Piece had 56.7% and AoT had 64.4%.
