After a substantial wait, Invincible is coming back to our screens with its Season 4. A lot went down in the previous season, where Mark almost destroyed his body to take down Conquest, and Nolan finally came to his senses, and instead of just dying, joined the Coalition of Planets to put on a fight against Viltrum. However, we have come a long way from season 1, and before we tune in to watch the upcoming season, here is a complete recap of Invincible from seasons 1 to 3 to refresh your memory.

People often say that some of the greatest betrayals come from people whom we hold dearest, and Mark Grayson knows it better than anyone else. We are going all the way back to Season 1 of Invincible with our recap, which gave us a father-son dynamic that appears to be very healthy. Nolan Grayson, AKA Omni-Man, is waiting for his son, Mark, to gain powers, and as soon as he does, Nolan starts training Mark to be a hero.

However, his true intentions come to light much later when Omni-Man butchers his superhero team, the Guardians of the Globe, and reveals his true intentions to take over Earth for his home world, Viltrum. Mark takes a stand against his father and fights with all his might.

However, he was no match for Nolan and was overpowered. Just when it appears that Nolan will kill Invincible, Mark’s words drown Nolan in guilt, and Omni-Man just leaves the planet, leaving Mark, his wife, and everyone else with a deep sense of betrayal.

Mark Is Introduced to Allen and the Coalition of Planets

Invincible Season 1 also introduced us to who is now a fan favorite character, Allen the Alien. However, his appearance was rather brief, and a major portion of his role was explored in Season 2. We get to see his life and, most importantly, we get to see him level up in some of the most unexpected ways.

Allen was brutally attacked by Viltrumtes, and the attack made it look like he was not going to survive. However, due to his unique physiology, his body not only healed, but it came out significantly stronger, granting him strength which makes him stronger than some pure blooded viltrumites.

By the end of Invincible Season 2, we see Allen letting himself get captured by Viltrumites so he can get close to Nolan, who was captured earlier in Season 2, and help him break out of prison. He does it so that he can have a chance to convince Nolan not to just accept his death sentence and use his power to fight against the Viltrumite tyranny.

Mark Discovers His Brother Oliver

Another major revelation that needs to be mentioned in this Invincible recap is the introduction of Oliver. We see that Mark was summoned by an alien to help save his planet, and as it turns out, it was a bait by Nolan to summon Mark and introduce him to his brother Oliver.

Of course, Mark did not take it too well because of everything Nolan had done on Earth, and especially to his mother and him. However, they had to put their differences aside when Viltrumites attacked and had to fight alongside each other to protect Oliver and other Thraxans.

Even though they fought with all their might, Nolan was captured by the end of the conflict, and Mark honoured his last request by taking Oliver back to Earth with him. We see Oliver grow in Season 3 and see him conflicted as to why everyone hates Nolan here on Earth. He even displayed tendencies like Season 1 Nolan, when he killed the Mauler Twins, but after counseling from Mark and Debby, refrained from walking down a dark and violent path.

The Invincible War Launched by Angstrom Levy

Angstrom Levy, the primary villain of Invincible Season 2, returned in Season 3, and this time, he was not alone. He, along with himself, brought evil variants of Invincible from different timelines who agreed to join Nolan in his quest to take over Earth.

These evil variants launched a full scale atttack on Earth. Mark was heavily outnumbered, but with the help of other heroes and the sacrifice of Rexsplode, managed to fight off the Invincible variants. However, even this time around, Levy managed to get away but is now working as a slave for the Technitians who had previously saved his life.

The Invincible War claimed a lot of lives and left Mark deeply traumatised by everything that went down. Before Mark could catch his breath, another massive threat showed up in the form of Conquest.

Battle Between Invincible and Conquest

In the final section of our recap, we will look at one of the most devastating battles Mark has found himself in, which was with Conquest in Invincible Season 3. This fight was not just brutal but emotionally scarring for Mark. Conquest was sent by the Viltrumites to capture Earth by any means, and he claimed a lot of lives, even after Mark was trying his best to stop him.

Mark broke multiple limbs trying to stop Conquest as well, but when Conquest killed Atom Eve, Mark snapped and went berserk on the Viltrumite, even using his own bones piercing out of his body as weapons against Conquest.

However, Eve’s powers kicked in just in time and saved her from dying, but Mark almost died after taking down Conquest. Cecil took away the Vintrumite’s body after finding out that Conquest was still alive and thought of interrogating him once he heals. However, even the strongest prison was not able to hold Conquest, and he escaped and will reappear in Season 4.

Looking at the trailer of Invincible Season 4, it is more than obvious that Nolan is now fully rehabilitated and has joined the cause of the Coalition of Planets. Moreover, it goes unsaid that Mark and other heroes will join the fight against the Viltrum Empire. So, let’s wait and see what comes our way on March 18, 2026, as Invincible Season 4 goes live on Amazon Prime Video.
