The Fortnite Design a Sprite contest has taken the game’s community by storm, allowing players to turn in their creative concepts for a chance to be featured in-game. With so many artists vying for the $2,500 grand prize, I went through every submission and compiled a list of the 10 best Sprite designs that I would personally love to see in Fortnite.
Pond Sprite
Starting our list of the best Fortnite Sprite contest designs is the Pond Sprite, submitted by X user matsubokiri. This Sprite features a unique transformation mechanic inspired by the life cycle of a frog while providing the ability to increase swimming speed with each level-up. Given how the Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3 map has a ton of connecting river channels, the Pond Sprite could give players a ton of mobility when navigating the island.
Klombo Sprite
Next up on our list of Fortnite Sprite contest designs is the Klombo Sprite, designed by X user Lawy3D. As its name suggests, the Klombo Sprite is inspired by the adorable Klombos from Fortnite Chapter 3, which had these creatures roaming the map. This Sprite would allow players to launch themselves into the sky and also gain 25 shields, with the height of the jump increasing with each level-up. With how important high ground is during Fortnite matches, I think the Klombo Sprite could become a fan-favourite among aggressive players.
Guff Sprite
The Guff Sprite, taking inspiration from the beloved Guff skin from the Fortnite Item Shop in Chapter 2, is one of the most adorable entries in the Fortnite Design a Sprite Contest. Another entry by X user matsubokiri, this Sprite would grant players a boost in speed while in the air, including gliding. While the added star trail behind the player could be seen as a competitive disadvantage, it would definitely make for a design quirk that squads can enjoy together.
Eclipse Sprite
One of the more unique Sprites in the new Fortnite contest is the Eclipse Sprite, designed by X user TyBurgerArt. While all of the Sprites in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3 provide a set buff, the Eclipse Sprite’s perks would vary depending on the time of day. During the day, players would gain increased movement speed, while at night, players would have a low-gravity effect. Since Fortnite features a day and night cycle, this Sprite could add a layer of unpredictability during players’ collection adventures.
Nitro Sprite
One of the many Sprites inspired by Fortnite skins in the contest, the Nitro Sprite, could be a perfect pick for fans of Megalo Don. Designed by X user _astrallotus_, the premise for the Sprite is simple: gain a Nitro effect after eliminating an enemy. While this might sound underwhelming, it could definitely help players like me, who need to recollect themselves after an intense 1v1. Additionally, the design being such a faithful recreation of Megalo Don would make this an instant hot commodity for my personal Fortnite Sprite collection.
EMP Sprite
The next entry in the Fortnite Sprite contest is the EMP Sprite, designed by X user NekoLilyOfc. This electrically charged companion takes inspiration from one of the more underrated items in the Fortnite loot pool, the EMP Grenade. With this Sprite, players would gain an EMP effect on their pickaxe, which would allow players to counter items like cars and the Business Turrets. The Business Turret is an absolute pain to deal with for many players out there, so having a Sprite designed to counter it would be an absolute blessing.
Jellyfish Sprite
Continuing our list, the Jellyfish Sprite, designed by X user valerymorenoq, brings possibly one of the most powerful buffs possible. This Sprite will allow players to slow their enemies down with lightning for 3 seconds when they are within a 25-meter radius. No doubt, this would make players extremely overpowered, especially in the final zones. However, with a few tweaks and a possible Mythic rarity, like the Grim Reaper Sprite, could make this an extremely coveted companion for players to chase down.
Knight Sprite
Another Sprite in the Fortnite Design a Sprite contest with a simple ability is the Knight Sprite. Designed by X user GasSpares, the Knight Sprite would simply reduce fall damage for players, with each level up granting players increased protection from fall damage. Despite having an extremely simple ability, the Knight Sprite has an extremely visually pleasing appearance, looking like something straight out of the Chapter 1 Season 2 Fortnite Battle Pass.
Prisoner Sprite
For players who focus on gathering loot rather than rushing enemies, the Prisoner Sprite could make for one of the best companions a player could have. Designed by ThatPrisoner S8 on X, this Sprite would grant you access to the many Vaults in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3. With each level up, players would receive a minor Vault key, and at Level 5, the Sprite would turn into a vault keycard. If you are on a Sprite hunt and want access to guaranteed Sprite Chests, the Prisoner Sprite could make your life a lot easier.
TNT Sprite
For the final entry on our list of best designs in the Fortnite Sprite contest, the TNT Sprite introduces a unique kamikaze mechanic. This Sprite, designed by ExplosiveTG on X, makes it so that your Sprite explodes when your shield gets depleted. The explosion would produce a shockwave that pushes enemies back, with the shockwave getting stronger with each level up. While this Sprite would only really be useful if you were in your enemies’ faces, it could make for some absolutely hilarious clips for players.
