House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 1 Ending
After Lucerys Velaryon’s death, while Rhaenyra is not in the right state of mind to decide anything, Daemon desperately looks forward to avenging his death. In Season 2, he also asks Rhaenys to accompany him to the King’s Landing, but thank goodness she holds him back. However, the Targaryen prince is unstoppable, so he continues to pursue another course of action. He knew only Mysaria’s connections at the Red Keep would allow his men to help him take revenge. So, he promised to free her from prison if she helped him.
Daemon then hires two assassins named Blood and Cheese to murder Aemond, the one-eyed Targaryen prince. Even though nothing has been mentioned about their past in the books, all we know is that Blood was once a butcher and the King Landing’s City Watcher. On the other hand, Cheese was a Rat Catcher who, according to the fool mushroom, had a vast knowledge of the secret pathways of the Red Keep. Well, now it makes sense why Daemon approaches these two for the massive work.
Who Dies Jaehearys Targaryen or Jaehaera?
Blood and Cheese enter the Red Keep through the unguarded passages to execute the plan. Unable to find Aemond Targaryen, Cheese catches Helaena (Aegon II’s sister-wife) and his children Jaehearys and Jaehaera. Putting Helaena on a knifepoint, the assassin asks her who is the son among the two asleep children.
Initially, Haelena tries to get them away from the children by offering them her valuable necklace. However, she was forced to point her finger at one of her children. Blood was sure that the one she looked at couldn’t be the boy, as the realm wouldn’t sacrifice the heir so easily. But Cheese says that she is not lying, and the duo immediately chokes the boy and beheads him most brutally.
Helaena runs, picks up the other child, and goes to Alicent’s room, where she gets traumatized again after finding the Queen in bed with Ser Criston Cole. So, without saying anything else, she just says, “They killed the boy”.
While it is not revealed at the end who gets killed Jaehearys or Jaehaera, a fresh trailer dropped after the episode hints that it’s Jaehearys, the heir to Aegon gets killed in the episode ending. The turn of events taking place towards the end will have a drastic effect on the brewing war between the two houses.
Jaehearys Targaryen’s death almost confirms that the war is inevitable and we’ll soon see Dance of the Dragons in upcoming episodes.
