Huawei has started rolling out a new update for its gaming-centric Honor Play smartphone, bringing new features, bug fixes, security patches and more. The one new feature that immediately stands out is ‘4D Smart Shock’ that apparently adds vibration effects designed to work with specific titles. Currently, the feature only supports Asphalt 9: Legends and PUBG, but more titles are expected to be added to the list going forward.

The incoming update apparently comes in two parts. As can be seen in the images posted by AndroidSoul, the first part of the update comes with version number COR-AL00 8.2.110 and, brings a security patch and a fix for a GPU Turbo implementation bug. The second part of the update comes with version number COR-AL00 8.2.0.120, and brings along a few more bug fixes and another security patch alongside the aforementioned 4D Smart Shock feature. The update, which weighs in at 0.93GB, also claims to fix a call recording issue that was earlier reported by some users.

As is always the case with OTA rollouts, the update is very likely rolling out in batches, and may take some time to reach all Honor Play units. In case you own one, you’ll receive a notification once the update is available for your device.

Launched last month, the Honor Play is aimed at gamers on a budget, and comes with the company’s proprietary GPU Turbo technology that the company promises will deliver a ‘crazy fast, crazy smart’ gaming and entertainment experience. The device is sold in India exclusively on Amazon, and has been priced starting at Rs 19,999 for the 4GB+64GB variant, and at Rs 23,999 for the 6GB/64GB variant.
