Genshin Impact 5.5: Chronicler of the Crumbling City Guide

Chronicler of the Crumbling City mission is the second quest in the Great Volcano of Tollan quest-chain in the Genshin Impact 5.5 update. This is a massive quest and includes multiple sub-quests, each involving different challenges. Completing the Chronicler of the Crumbling City quest unlocks the Primeval Source Dragon Mech boss fight, the final boss for the Saurian Companion quest chain. How to Unlock the Chronicler of the Crumbling City Mission in Genshin Impact

As Chronicler of the Crumbling City is the second mission in the Great Volcano of Tollan quest-chain in Genshin Impact, you must first complete the previous quests to unlock this mission. First, you will need to complete the following quests:

• The Way into the Mountain quest
• Path to the Flaming Peaks quest

After you have completed them and have leapt into the crater, you will find yourself in a dark area. Now, the Chronicler of the Crumbling City mission will begin, starting with The Frozen, Rekindling Land sub-quest.

Part 1: The Frozen, Rekindling Land

This is the first sub-quest players will receive in this quest chain, and it is also fairly large but less complicated. Here is what you need to do in the Frozen, Rekindling Land sub-quest in the Genshin Impact 5.5 update:

• Jump onto the elevated platform and select “Activate” to light up the path. Follow the light to the door and open it.

• Continue following the light until you come across an automaton enemy.
• Defeat the enemy and continue following the light to the next door.
• Keep following the light until you meet Ehecatl, a secret source servant.
• Speak with it and start the device to light up the entire.

• Head outside and reach the next quest marker to find another secret source servant.
• Speak with the source servant and head to the next marker.
• Transform into a Yumkasaur and grapple your way over the islands.

• Once you reach the Sea of Shifting Sentience, The Forsaken Sea of Wisdom sub-quest will begin.

Part 2: The Forsaken Sea of Wisdom

• Transform into Koholasaur and swim to the marker in this Genshin Impact location.
• Use the Spirit Way to reach the quest area directly and activate the Astral Assemblage.

• Next, you need to submerge yourself into the pool of flowing flames while being transformed as a Koholasaur.
• Head over to each of the pools by following the marker and submerge yourself. You will need to go up after some time, so use the circular stone pillars near the back side to circle your way to a higher area if you are stuck.

• After you have immersed yourself in the pool of flowing flames, head back to the main Astral Assemblage activation area by following the quest marker.
• Here, you will encounter a sudden attack of Abyssal Corrosion.
• Now, transform into the Koholasaur and activate each of the Iridescent Beam (hovering red spheres).

• Get near each of the marked red spheres and activate them to reduce the Abyssal Corrosion level. Use the jumping zones in the lava to reach the red spheres at a higher height.
• After defeating the Abyss, head to the Astral Assemblage and activate it. This will complete the The Forsaken Sea of Wisdom sub-quest in Genshin Impact 5.5.

Part 3: The Sealed Site of Sacrifice

• Use the Spirit way from the Astral Assemblage activation area to quickly reach the next area.
• Now, transform into a Qucusaur and fly to the next quest marker.
• After reaching the Astral Assemblage seal, you will need to break it using a Tatankasaur.

• Transform into the Tatankasaur and hit the first ramp from its right side to the left by charging at it. This will fix the first ramp into its proper place.

• Head up the ramp to the next platform and hit the next ramp on the left by charging to move it further left. This will reveal a hole in the wall that you can enter.
• Inside, break the box on the left side and keep going until you reach the other side of the ramp.
• Hit the ramp twice from that side to fix it in its proper place. Then, again, head up to the next platform using the second ramp.

• The third ramp will already be in the proper place, so head up to the fourth platform.
• Here, hit the fourth ramp on the right to move it further. This will reveal another hole in the wall. Hit the box blocking the hole and enter the passage.
• As you enter the passage, the floor will start moving backward. Charge using the sprint button and Elemental Skill button to reach the other end against the floor.
• Activate the lever on the other end to stop the floor from moving.

• Exit from the hole on the other end and keep hitting the wall on the left until it fits the proper place.

• Finally, head to the very bottom of the ramp and charge up all way up the ramp, and jump tackle the seal at the middle to break it.

• After breaking the seal, activate the Astral Assemblage.
• Now, head to the next quest marker and speak with the secret source servant Amaru.
• Activate the lift to reach the depths of the ancient city.

Part 4: In Search of a Hidden Heart

After reaching the depths of the ancient city, speak with the new Secret Source Servant at the quest marker. Now, you will have to complete four separate quests to complete the In Search of a Hidden Heart sub-quest in the Chronicler of the Crumbling City World quest. Here are the missions that you must complete in the depths of the ancient city in Genshin Impact 5.5.

• Once, the Sacred Seat of Judgement
• Where Once There Was a Calculation Array
• Where Once Force Was Reversed
• Where Once There Were Arms Aplenty

You must return to the Secret Source Server after completing the first two missions to get the last two missions. After completing the missions, head to the Secret Source Dragon idol and submit the three Phlogiston Units and one Permit to the Sacred Heart, which you must have earned from the missions already.

This will complete the In Search of a Hidden Heart sub-quest and begin The End of the Road sub-quest in the Chronicler of the Crumbling City main quest of Genshin Impact.

Part 5: The End of the Road

• After activating the Secret Source Dragon idol, a deep cavern will unlock behind it.
• Jump into the cavern and reach the very bottom.
• Once you see a Qucusaur transformation icon, use it to indwell a Qucusaur.
• Now, dive into the cavern using the Qucusaur, similar to what you did at the end of the Path to the Flaming Peaks quest.

• The portal will take you to the Heart of the Sacred Mountain, completing the End of the Road sub-quest in the Chronicler of the Crumbling City World quest.

Part 6: As the Burning Sun Sears

• In the Heart of the Sacred Mountain, you will have to fight the Abyss Monsters again, clearing the area of the Abyss.

• Defeat all the Abyss enemies normally, and then transform into a Tatankasaur and bash into the moving Abyss beacons to release the Astral Assemblage. All the Abyss beacons follow a similar path that you can track to hit them without issue. You will also have to use a flame gun at one point to destroy the Abyss Beacons in the sky.

• After clearing the area of Abyss, follow up the ramp like structure and charge towards the main Abyss Corruption in the sky to destroy it. This will complete the As the Burning Sun Sears sub-quest.

After you have completed the above steps, you will complete the Chronicler of the Crumbling City quest in the Genshin Impact 5.5 update. Now you can turn in the two Golden Entreaties to unlock the Primeval Source Dragon Mech boss fight in Genshin Impact.
