- Versus is strictly PvP, and it will also have a separate ranked mode.
Xbox has finally revealed the features of Gears of War E-Day multiplayer mode. They have revealed all the details about the Horde Siege and Versus modes. Both multiplayer modes have a ton of things to offer, so here is a complete guide to help you know everything about them.
Gears of War E-Day Multiplayer Mode: Horde Siege
In Gears of War E-Day, Horde Siege is a PvE multiplayer mode where three squads of four players (12 players in total) have to fight against waves of enemies. Multiple squads will be able to fight together on the maps set within the city of Kalona. Every squad will have specific missions, which can overlap, and it will eventually end with a final fight and extraction.
Siege Classes

Players will have to pick a class before they are deployed to a mission. Each class will have unique abilities, some being better frontliners and gunners, while others are good supports or marksmen. Here are all the classes in the Horde Siege Gears of War E-Day multiplayer mode:
| Class | Abilities |
|---|---|
| Assault | Midrange weapons and flexible in all situations. They can deploy a Sonic Disruptor, which can stun enemies. This class also gets a damage boost when in cover. |
| Breacher | A classic frontliner / tank class that focuses on close-range damage. They come with an Adrenaline Injector that refills health and reduces damage taken. |
| Marksman | This is a sniper class, shooting enemies from a distance and dealing lethal damage. It comes with a Pulse Drone, which lets you target Locust units and mark them for allies. |
| Medic | This is the dedicated healer class. This class is a revive expert, having the ability to heal and revive at range. |
Missions & Objective Types

There will be three mission types in the Horde Siege mode. These sub-modes are as follows:
- Blitz: Short missions with 1 to 2 objectives. Usually lasts for 15-20 minutes.
- Siege: Standard-length missions with multiple objectives, over multiple maps. Lasts around 20-40 minutes.
- Horde: Hardcore missions that can be a tough grind with 10 waves of enemies with limited support. Can last up to 50-60 minutes.
When it comes to the main objective, the gameplay largely revolves around R.I.G.s, aka Resonation Imaging Geographer. These are COG scanning equipment that players have to secure, calibrate, repair, and defend. Enemies will try to destroy the R.I.G., so protecting it becomes the top priority in the game.
Other than that, there are secondary objectives where players can obtain weapon parts, free equipment, and supply caches. These are vital for becoming stronger during the mission. By defeating enemies, players will obtain energy, which can be used to open supply caches or unlock squad perks.
Difficulty Modes

The Horde Siege mode also comes with multiple difficulty options. Players will have to choose their difficulty level when starting a mission. The difficulty levels unlock based on the player’s class level. The higher the class level, the higher the difficulty can be selected. Here are three difficulty options available in the Horde Siege mode:
- Infantry: Recommended for Class levels 10 to 20.
- Commander: Recommended for Class levels 20 to 30.
- Allfather: Recommended for max-level classes only.
The game will suggest a difficulty level to players based on their class level, but the ultimate choice will rest with the players. If you want to get used to the game’s difficulty, make sure to participate in the Gears of War E-Day open beta.
Modifiers & In-Match Events

Matches in the Gears of War E-Day multiplayer mode can have mission modifiers and events like Poisons, Invasion Events, and more. These are additional twists to add more uniqueness to your runs. Here is a quick overview of the different events:
- Mission Modifiers: Based on selected difficulty, your mission may feature modifiers with added twists to combat. For example, there can be things like only Perfect Active Reloads, regenerating health only when in cover, or enemies exploding on their death.
- Poisons: When defeating a boss wave is the main objective, the Locust get stronger. Poisons are squad-specific, so only enemies you face are affected.
- Invasion Events: These are special bosses that can occur randomly during missions. Completing them will give additional rewards.
Life and Death
In Gears of War E-Day Horde Siege multiplayer mode, dying is not the end. While there are classes that can revive, players can also be revived using Supply Caches. After death, your allies can carry your COG tags and take them to them to a Supply Cache to revive you. However, if everyone in the squad dies, the squad will lose a life. When all Squad Lives are consumed, the mission will be failed.
Weapons and Mods

Every player can have different weapon loadouts and equipment. Along with them, there are Armor Mods, Tactical Gear Mods, and unique Weapon Mods. Like most games, armor mods will improve health, ammo reserves, weapon swap speed, and other similar things. Similarly, Tactical Gear mods improve class abilities, and weapon mods improve the weapon directly.
Gears of War E-Day Multiplayer Mode: Versus
The next multiplayer mode in Gears of War E-Day is the Versus mode. This is a pure PvP mode where players can play four different types of matches. This mode will also have a ranked mode, along with many different maps. If you are serious about ranked, make sure the Gears of War E-Day system requirements meet your device specifications first.
All Versus Game Modes
There are four game modes in the Versus multiplayer mode of Gears of War E-Day. These are: Team Deathmatch, Conquest, Demolition, and Crucible.
- Team Deathmatch: In this launch mode, players will have to eliminate each other to earn points. This mode will have a dynamic respawn system, moving the spawn locations based on where the fight is ongoing.
- Conquest: Conquest is the classic King of the Hill mode where players will have to secure zones.
- Demolition: Demolition is a Counter-Strike mode where players have to either defend or plant bombs to win matches.
- Crucible: Crucible is the mode that centers around a heavy piece of COG equipment that has to be picked up and carried to a destination to win.
Versus Ranked Mode

Versus is divided into Ranked and Social. Ranked is a competitive mode, whereas Social is a more casual mode with 4v4 Quickplay and Player vs Bots. When it comes to Ranked mode, the rank is tracked separately for each of the sub-modes. For example, the rank for TDM would be tracked differently from Conquest.
The ranked mode will also have tight matchmaking and will penalize players for quitting before the match ends. After playing ranked, players will get placed into different skill divisions.
