The war between the Ice King and the Foundation has concluded with the Fortnite Shattered live event, bringing the end of Chapter 7 Season 2 and the downtime for Chapter 7 Season 3 with it. As with any end-of-season live event, the Shattered live event has brought a massive spectacle for players when it aired on June 5, 2026, at 7 PM ET. What Happened in Fortnite Shattered Live Event Today? Geno’s Return Explained
As players loaded into the Fortnite Shattered live event, they were placed in different locations depending on the side they chose for the Showdown Rivalries event. Team Ice King were spawned in the Ice King’s castle at Frigid Fortress, right next to the Reforged Infinity Blade. Team Ice King members were treated to an opening cutscene of the Ice King conversing with the Dark Voyager, with the duo conversing about the players and referring to them as the Ice King’s army.
Meanwhile, Team Foundation were taken to the bunker near New Sanctuary. Of course, all weapons were disabled in the pre-event phase of Shattered, allowing players to experience the event without griefers messing things up.
Team Foundation was also treated with conversations between Jones, The Foundation, and The Visitor. The event was centered around the Ice King helping the Dark Voyager get the last Zero Point shard to the others. In exchange, the Dark Voyager would help the Ice King take down the Foundation.
As the Dark Harvester rifted in and collected the last Zero Point shard, Team Foundation, with its members hidden, headed to Dark Dominion. Here, the Ice King and the Foundation were seen in a standoff, and just as the Foundation was going to use an unknown weapon to take out the Ice King, it malfunctions.
With the Foundation stunned, Team Ice King and Team Foundation clashed, with Team Ice King using energy blasts to take out enemies. Meanwhile, the Team Foundation members tried targeting the Dark Harvester to try and stop the Dark Voyager. Team Foundation’s attempts successfully destroyed the Dark Voyager’s tractor beam, dropping the Zero Point Shard.
We then saw the Foundation and the Ice King in an all-out brawl, with the Foundation even using the Zero Point Shard as a shield and weapon. As the Ice King’s Infinity Blade and the Zero Point Shard collided, the energy seemingly supercharged the blade. The Ice King then brought the powered blade down on the Island, splitting the Island apart and revealing the lava underneath. The Ice King’s blade mysterious turned into Rift Butterflies like the ones from the OG Butterfly event.
The energy from the Zero Point shard then allowed players to assume the role of the Foundation and the Ice King, with the game giving us quick time events as they continued their brawl. Their brawl then came to an end with Ice King freezing The Foundation yet again. Since Team Ice King won the Rivalries event, the game showed on-screen text for winning a Rivalry.
The Ice King then transformed into the unlocked Battle Pass variant. The Dark Voyager then betrays the Ice King, essentially absorbing the powerful ruler of Frigid Fortress and transforming into the Voyager Unleashed outfit. Players were then pushed way back from the Zero Point, as the Dark Harvester blasted the Zero Point with energy and began cycling the Island through different realities.
The butterfly then returned, granting players the Reforged Infinity Blade, which they then used to slice the Dark Harvester in half. However, the Zero Point shards come together regardless, revealing our first look at the Chapter 7 Season 3 map.
Players then saw a cinematic with Jones and the Visitor, and as the Dark Voyager arrived to take them both down, Jones was shot in the back by The Visitor. This is where the biggest twist of the Fortnite Shattered live event comes in. The Visitor (Reality Unknown) is revealed to be none other than Geno, finally revealing himself. Voice actor Ben Starr also posted on X about the plot twist shortly after.
The event came to an end with Geno revealing that he could use The Seven in the future, while kicking an injured Jones down the a cliff. The Dark Voyager then reveals Geno to be his Master and the screen cutting to black.
The Shattered live event was one of the most lore extensive Fortnite live events in quite some time. Now, we have to wait and see where the storyline will go in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3.
