Dune: Prophecy Episode 1 Ending Explained

Dune: Prophecy has finally debuted with its first episode, allowing us to meet the sisters who made Bene Gesserit a significant element in the Dune universe. Valya Harkonnen was chosen by the first Reverend mother of Bene Gesserit to enhance the strength of the Sisterhood by using every tool. So, the entire pilot episode of the HBO series kept her and her little sister, Tula, in the spotlight. While most of the episode focussed on the political duels involving House Corrino, the horrifying ending sees some unexpected events that we want you to know about.

Desmond Hart is a character who isn’t in the books; in fact, he is an original TV show character. We see him appearing in front of the Emperor out of nowhere, and initially, we don’t find anything disturbing about this new character. However, our perception changed when he turned towards Kasha while leaving. The first scene involving Desmond doesn’t reveal much about him, but it certainly hints at his antagonistic persona.

At the end of the episode, Desmond approaches Pruwet, the young heir of House Richese, who is awakened by a bad dream. Desmond asks him if he wants to tell him about the dream, to which Pruwet clearly denies. The boy instead asks Desmond if he is a real soldier and then what he is doing there. ‘There’s no war here,’ Pruwet says. Desmond replies that there is a hidden war that only he can sense. He says that a significant enemy is waging the war, and that’s why he has been sent there with a great power. Later, he burns Pruwet with some power that doesn’t require him to touch the little boy.

Pruwet wasn’t the only one to have a bad dream that night; Emperor Corrino also had one. When Corrino steps out of his bedroom, he enters a room and encounters footage of a sandworm and several soldiers who are getting crushed in it. He gets skeptical as he doesn’t have any clue who left the footage there. Although the episode didn’t give us any clarity on that, it’s safe to assume that Desmond left the footage for Emperor. His motives are still not clear, but it’s clear that Desmond has entered the battlefield with some sinister motives against the Sisterhood.

What Does Kasha’s Brutal Death Mean?

In the concluding moments of Dune: Prophecy, Valya and Tulya Harkonnan wake up hearing a scream. When Valya runs towards it, she comes across Kasha, whose skin is slowly getting burned, and she is in extreme pain. Well, she was the one who met Desmond when he approached Emperor Corrino, so there’s a possibility that the antagonist took her as one of the thorns of his path, so using his psychic powers, he killed her. Her death clearly signifies that the enemies are coming towards the Sisterhood, and it’s time for every sister to hone their skills and prepare for the gruesome battle.
