- The BR's map is set in California and features a Battlefield V Firestorm-like circle dynamic.
- Leaks from dataminers have hinted at Warzone-style loadout drops and objective-based missions being present in the BR.
Following months of intense speculation, the Battlefield 6 Battle Royale has finally been confirmed, and it is named Battlefield Redsec. The BR builds on BF6’s momentum by delivering a large-scale combat experience, comparable to the likes of Warzone and Fortnite. The game mode has its own unique map and comes with distinct features to help it stand out from the competition. So, if you’re looking to learn more about it, here’s everything we know so far about Battlefield Redsec.
Battlefield Redsec Release Date
As confirmed in an official X post, Battlefield Redsec will be released on October 28 at 8 AM PT (11 AM ET/3 PM UTC). Just like Apex Legends back in 2019, Redsec will be shadowdropped across all current-gen platforms. Expect heavy server congestion once the title goes live as millions of players will be trying to get in at once.
Is Battlefield Redsec Free-to-Play?
Yes, Battlefield Redsec is indeed free-to-play. By removing the cost of admission, BF6’s BR has a fighting chance against genre heavyweights such as Warzone and Fortnite. An entertaining Battle Royale experience could convince players to buy the full product and experience the multiplayer, allowing EA to attract a wider group of players.
Battlefield Resec Trailer
The Battlefield Redsec official trailer is set to air on October 28 at 8 AM PT, at the same time as the game’s release.
At the end of Battlefield 6’s multiplayer gameplay reveal event, EA provided the first official look at the Battle Royale via a 20-second teaser. In it, we got a glimpse at its sunny setting, its destructible environments, vehicles, and the ring of fire that surrounds the map. The fire-based circle is reminiscent of Battlefield V’s Firestorm, which was the franchise’s tame answer to Call of Duty: Warzone.
Following the gameplay event, Battlefield’s Global Community Manager, Kevin Johnson, confirmed that the Battle Royale will be joining the Battlefield Labs program, allowing select players to check it out ahead of the mode’s proper release. While the closed playtest was protected by an NDA, its intro cinematic, and snippets of gameplay quickly surfaced online.
Battlefied Redsec Confirmed Gameplay Details
Battlefield Redsec will feature two playlists at launch, both of which add up to 100 players. The options available include Duos (2 players per team) and Squads (4 players per team). Solos and Trios will reportedly be missing from the launch playlist.
The BR’s map is set in California and features a variety of POIs, ranging from Mansions to Military Bases. Parts of the map will also be sliced off and introudced as individual maps in the Multiplayer, starting with Blackwell Fields and Eastwood in Battlefield 6 Season 1. On Redsec’s map, you’ll find your standard BR commonfare of lootable chests, small missions, and a decent variety of vehicles.
Speaking of vehicles, the most powerful combat vessels in the game mode (such as Tanks) can only be accessed in specfic areas, unlocked by collecting keycards. These keycards, in turn, can be earned by completing mission objectives.
Lastly, the ring of fire surrounding the map works slightly than in other BR games. Instead of simply damaging the players, the circle will instantly kill them on contact, which adds another level of jeopardy to your rotations througout a match,
All Battlefield Redsec Leaks
Infamous Battlefield Labs dataminer, ‘temporyal,’ posted an expansive thread on Reddit, which carried a ton of information about Battlefield Redsec. Before jumping into the leaks, keep in mind that all of these details are yet to be confirmed, despite how credible they may seem.
Map
As per the leaks, Redsec’s map is reportedly set in California and named ‘Granite.’ At the heart of the map is a classified military R&D facility that has been attacked by multiple unidentified PMC groups. To prevent classified information from being stolen, the ‘Handler’ deploys you and tens of other players into the battlefield.
During the mode’s testing in the Battlefield Labs program, lengthy footage of its POIs, layout, and structure surfaced online. Based on that footage, we know that the map features locations such as a mansion, a golf course, and a hangar.
Priority Missions
Priority Missions are high-reward opportunities that give players moment-to-moment objectives to tackle. In essence, they’re similar to Warzone’s Contracts, barring two major differences. The first are the mission rewards, as Battlefield 6’s Battle Royale will reward players with combat vehicle access keycards, custom weapon drops, and more, as compared to cold, hard cash in Warzone.
Secondly, when a nearby enemy squad starts a mission, you may be given the chance to stop them and steal their rewards. This is an interesting twist that could add another dimension to the way objectives work. Here’s what the counter mechanic could look like in the game:
- Watch out! Another Team is countering your squad’s Marked Mission. They will try to eliminate (Marked PlayerName).
- Watch out! Another Team is countering your squad’s High Value Assets Mission. They will try to calibrate your beacons.
- Watch out! Another Team is countering your Demolition Crew Mission. They will try to stop you or defuse the bomb.
Custom Weapon Drops
Just as the name suggests, custom weapon drops are said to be airdropped support packages containing your customized weapons. The mechanic looks to borrow from Warzone’s loadout system, but you can only retrieve one custom weapon at a time. To get a second custom weapon, you’ll need to find a different drop, which are said to be increasingly rare.
Second Chance
Battlefield Redsec could feature an automatic revive mechanic, which redeploys players if they die too quickly after the match’s start. This means that if you die within a set time limit, take the first three minutes of the match, for example, you’ll be respawned automatically. However, this will be your second and final chance at survival. No more repawns will be possible beyond this point, unless your squadmates use a Redeploy Point.
Mobile Redeploy Points can be found as rare loot and as a reward for completing missions. Players can use them to bring fallen squadmates back to life. In addition, they can also contest Redeploy Points activated by enemies to pause their activation progress.
NXC Flamefront
The lethal ring of fire surrounding the map has been termed the ‘NXC Flamefront,’ and it is never stable. The ring constantly collapses until nothing remains, as NXC instantly destroys anything it touches. You’ll also start burning if you get too close to the ring, meaning it might be a bigger threat than other squads in some cases.
Oversight System
The Oversight System allows eliminated players to stay in the fight using remote cameras, drones, and turrets. It all starts with capturing Oversight Terminals found on the map, which gives dead squadmates control of advanced security systems with lethal potential. These include a turret that can fire upon oncoming enemies, public cameras that can be used to scout ahead, and drones that can deploy bombs remotely.
As mentioned earlier, all of these gameplay details are yet to be confirmed. So, be sure to take them with a grain of salt. We’ll be sure to update this article once more details are revealed, so consider bookmarking this page.
