Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Release Date and Platforms

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is set to release on July 9, 2026, according to multiple reports online. After months of speculation and postponement, Ubisoft has finally confirmed that the first official reveal for the game will take place on April 23, 2026, at 6 PM CEST.

The Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake is expected to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. As of now, Ubisoft has made no mention of a Nintendo Switch 2 port for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. However, fans are hopeful for a Switch 2 port of the game releasing down the line.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Gameplay Overhauls

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is not just a simple remaster with higher resolution. Rather, it is a complete ground-up remake using the Ubisoft Anvil Pipeline engine, the same engine powering Assassin’s Creed Shadows. This will allow Ubisoft to bring the Caribbean to life with modern fidelity.

The most significant technical leap will be the removal of pesky loading screens between ship-to-shore transitions. Players will now be able to dock at a port or board an enemy vessel without the pesky, immersion-breaking loading screens getting in the way.

Technical Specs

Ubisoft is targeting a native 4K resolution at 60 FPS on current-gen consoles. This means players can expect vastly improved water physics, volumetric fog, and the tropical storms to look more menacing than ever.

While some rumors suggested an RPG-style transition along the lines of Odyssey, it looks like Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced will be sticking to its action-stealth roots. The title will be a narrative-driven experience, just like the original Assassin’s Creed titles. However, the combat system will be more refined to be more fluid and fast-paced, with additional visual cues for enemy attacks and a new double-edged HUD.

New Storyline Characters and Elements

Easily the most exciting news for veterans is that Ubisoft is not retelling the same story with Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. Instead, it will feature new characters and expanded narrative arcs. Resynced reportedly features additional story elements that flesh out Edward Kenway’s transition from a selfish privateer to a true Assassin.

Additionally, in a move to focus on a pure story-driven adventure, Ubisoft has reportedly decided to exclude the original game’s multiplayer mode and the Freedom Cry DLC. While playing as Adewale on a mission to free slaves will be missed, players will still get to see the character in the core gameplay of the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake.

Reveal Showcase Twitch Drops

Ubisoft has partnered with streamers for the official reveal of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, which is airing on Twitch on April 23, 2026, at 6 PM CEST. Much like how Twitch Drops work in titles like Fortnite, participating players will be eligible to earn the Rufino Pistol skin by watching 20 minutes of the stream. The pistol skin will be available in-game when the title fully releases.
