Here Are All the Nothing Phones Eligible for Android 16 Update

From Android 12 to Android 15, we’ve seen Nothing OS evolve drastically since Nothing’s inception. The brand pushed Nothing OS 3.1 based on Android 15 not too long ago with the Phone (3a) series, and it’s about time we saw an Android 16-based Nothing OS pop up. With Google shifting gears to Android 16 and manufacturers like OnePlus are already testing the Android 16 Beta, Nothing might join soon. Here are all the Nothing phones eligible for Android 16 update.

Android 16: List of Supported Nothing Phones

Nothing is yet to share its update roadmap for Android 16-eligible devices. Interestingly, unlike last year, the firm is not in the list of Android 16 Beta partners that Google shared recently. Does this mean Android 16 will be delayed on Nothing phones? Probably not, since the firm has previously outshined major smartphone giants with speedy major updates.

The firm’s upcoming flagship device, the Phone (3) is confirmed to launch in Q3 (around July). And with Android 16 releasing to stable in May, the Phone (3) might as well launch with Android 16 out of the box. We can expect the Nothing phones to get the update around the same time. Do take these assumptions with a grain of salt, though, as updates could get delayed due to critical bugs.

All models since the Nothing Phone (2) will be eligible for Android 16. Sadly, the Nothing Phone (1) won’t receive Android 16 because it’s gone beyond its three-year update quota. It launched with Android 12 and the last update it received is Android 15. The devices that are eligible for Android 16 update are:

  • Nothing Phone (2)
  • Nothing Phone (2a)
  • Nothing Phone (2a) Plus / Community Edition
  • Nothing Phone (3a)
  • Nothing Phone (3a) Pro

Android 16 Supported CMF Phones

The CMF Phone 1 launched with Android 14 out of the box and has since been updated to Android 15. Since Nothing promises two major updates to its CMF devices, it is also eligible for Android 16. Besides, the upcoming CMF Phone 2 Pro could launch with Android 15 but will soon be upgradeable to Android 16.

  • CMF Phone 1
  • CMF Phone 2 Pro (Coming soon)

And those are all the Nothing devices that will get the Android 16 update. While we’re not sure if the Nothing OS version itself will see a major bump from Nothing OS 3.0 to 4.0, it’s too soon to talk about the potential Android 16 features that will come to Nothing OS. Not unless Nothing announces Android 16 Beta officially.

That said, it should be interesting to see if Nothing cooks up anything new or the next Nothing OS will only see a bump in version. At least that’s what rumors suggest about Android 16-based One UI 8, on eligible Samsung devices.

What are your expectations from the upcoming Android 16-based Nothing OS? Is your device eligible for the update? Let us know in the comments.
