IO Interactive’s 007 First Light has finally arrived, giving players a chance to control a raw, inexperienced 26-year-old James Bond. Among the dangerous missions you will take on as Bond, you will need to know how to detect traps in 007 First Light. This is important during a specific chapter of the game called “The Past Never Dies,” when you track down 009 on his boat.
How to Detect and Disable Traps in 007 First Light
Once you reach 009’s ship in The Past Never Dies in 007 First Light, you will immediately see a red rope in front of you. You need to make sure not to walk into this rope, as this is a ‘booby trap.’ Walking into it will cause a grenade to go off, dealing lethal damage to Bond. Thankfully, this is very easy to defuse, as you simply need to walk toward the grenade end of the rope and press Triangle to disable the booby trap.
Where things get tricky is the laser traps that you come across during the latter half of this 007 First Light mission. These traps are invisible to the naked eye and, much like the booby traps, will cause lethal damage to Bond if triggered. To avoid these laser traps, you need to set off environmental objects that interact with the laser and make them visible.
This includes items like water sprinklers and the dust from a broken crate. You can use your Q-Lens gadget to get an idea of which environmental objects you can interact with to make these traps visible. Once visible, you can either parkour around the lasers or even crouch under them. Some laser traps also move constantly, so you will have to plan your movements accordingly if you want to escape unscathed.
However, it is important to remember that, unlike the booby traps, these laser traps cannot be disabled. This means your only option to get past these traps is to get around them using parkour. If you want, you should check out the 007 First Light system requirements to make sure your visual performance isn’t causing you to run into laser traps.
