Xiaomi has started rolling out Android TV 9.0 Pie to a couple of its Mi TV models in India, and announced plans to update the entire lineup in the coming weeks. After originally announcing the update on Thursday, the company earlier today provided more specifics, saying that two of the models, the Mi TV 4A Pro 32-inch and Mi TV 4C Pro 32-inch, will start getting the update with immediate effect. The development has also been confirmed by Xiaomi India MD, Manu Jain, who said: “Mi TVs will start receiving Android TV 9.0 update starting today”.
As for the other models, they will start receiving the new software in the coming days. In a recent tweet, Xiaomi India Product Support Executive, Sudeep Sahu (@laurelsudeep), said: “Mi TV 4A Pro /4C Pro Android TV 9.0 update roll out has started. All other Pro series models are planned to receive this 9.0 update later”.
The newer models in Xiaomi’s Mi TV portfolio in India include the Mi LED TV 4A Pro 43-inch, Mi LED TV 4X 55-inch, Mi LED TV 4A Pro 49-inch and Mi LED TV 4 PRO 55-inch, and while all of them are expected to get the latest software, there’s no word on when that might happen.
Remarkably, Xiaomi has also confirmed that some of the older Mi TV models, like the Mi TV 4A 32-inch and Mi TV 4A 43-inch, will also get upgraded to Android TV 9, with closed beta testing for the software already underway. Again, there’s no ETA, but it’s likely to come after the newer models get their slice of the Pie.
