Wuthering Waves Tier List – Best Resonators

In Short
  • Best Wuthering Waves Resonators (S Tier): Verina, Jiyan, Danjin, Encore, and Havoc Rover.
  • Good Wuthering Waves Resonators (A & B Tiers): Calcharo, Spectro Rover, Mortefi, Sanhua, Lingyang, Jianxin, Baizhi, Yangyang, and Taoqi.
  • Bad Wuthering Waves Resonators (C & D Tiers): Chixia, Yuanwu, and Aalto.

Wuthering Waves has become quite a success, despite initial performance issues, and the game is extremely fun to play and explore. The game features some of the best characters (Resonators) in the gacha gaming genre, with a variety of playstyle making each character relevant. Still, you can only build teams with three Resonators at a time, so here is the Wuthering Waves character tier list with the best Resonators in the game ranked.

Wuthering Waves Resonator tier list

Wuthering Waves Tier List: S-Tier Characters

S-tier Resonators are the absolute best characters in Wuthering Waves. These characters provide the most value to any team and can easily allow players to clear the hardest challenges in the game.

1. Verina

Verina is arguably the best Resonator in Wuthering Waves, and definitely the best supporter character in the game. She is an amazing off-field healer and buffer, taking only a couple of seconds on-field to get the best out of her kit. Verina can solo sustain any team in Wuthering Waves, without compromising on the DPS output from the team.

2. Danjin

Danjin is one of the strongest sub-DPS in the game, having one of the nastiest intro-skills in the game. Some may disagree with me for putting her in S-tier, as Danjin is double-edged sword. Her Skill has zero downtime and can be constantly spammed, but at the cost of her health. This is why playing Danjin becomes difficult as she quickly has low HP, and can die easily from a mistake. Nonetheless, players who are really good at dodging will love using Danjin and destroying Tacet Discords left and right.

3. Havoc Rover

Havoc Rover is currently one of the strongest DPS in the game, especially when equipped with the Dreamless echo. When correctly used and built, Havoc Rover can melt almost all enemies within seconds. Being the protagonist of the game, the character barely takes any investment and also gets two of their Resonance Chain unlocked through the in-game missions.

4. Jiyan

Jiyan, the general of the Midnight Rangers, is also one of the strongest DPS in the game and easily takes his place in the Wuthering Waves S-tier ranking. He is a heavy attack-focused character, with strong AoE attacks. Jiyan is also extremely easy to play and can wipe out entire groups of enemies alone after using his Resonance Liberation.

5. Encore

Encore Wuthering Waves S tier DPS

Encore is also one of the strongest DPS in Wuthering Waves, equipped to deal very high amounts of damage at short bursts using Resonance Skill and Forte abilities. Her main damage output comes after using her Resonance Liberation, which enhanced all her attacks. After using her Resonance Liberation, her Resonance Skill and Forte can both deal a very high amount of damage for 10 seconds. However, many of Encore’s abilities require charging, especially her enhanced Resonance Forte, making her very difficult to play. Players who can master Encore’s abilities will be able to melt down any boss without any issue.

Wuthering Waves Tier List: A-Tier Characters

Wuthering Waves A-Tier Resonators are also very strong characters with abilities to carry you through most of the hardest challenges. However, they lack in some aspects compared to the S-tier characters, which might be changed with future updates.

1. Calcharo

Calcharo is probably the most loved character on release, featuring one of the most enjoyable playstyles. He is a main electro DPS, and can deal considerable damage. His kit is focused on evasion attacks, which has increased damage and is quite fun to use during fights. However, in terms of raw damage output, Calcharo still lacks a bit compared to the S-tier DPS characters, forcing me to place him in A-tier.

2. Spectro Rover

Spectro Rover is a surprisingly useful character, both for early and end-game content in Wuthering Waves 1.0. They are a hybrid character with strong cleave and good healing abilities. Like Havoc Rovers, players can easily unlock their Resonance Chain, and they barely require any investments compared to the other characters in the game. Also, you can build Spectro and Havoc Rover at the same time, making investing in them worthwhile.

3. Mortefi

Mortefi Wuthering Waves

Mortefi is one of the strongest sub-DPS in the game and he can easily amplify the damage output of any main DPS, especially when his first Resonance Chain ability gets unlocked. When your main on-field DPS uses their Resonance Skill, Mortefi can attack alongside them, while staying off-field. Building Mortefi is worthwhile, as he can easily increase the damage output of any team.

4. Sanhua

Sanhua Wuthering Waves

Sanhua is one of the free Resonators in Wuthering Waves received through the login bonus during release. Unlike how free characters tend to go, Sanhua is a very strong glacio DPS, even stronger than some 5-star DPS characters when built correctly. Being the bodyguard to the magistrate of Jinzhou city, Sanhua definitely plays her role as a character correctly.

Wuthering Waves Tier List: B-Tier Characters

The B-Tier characters in Wuthering are good early-game characters, who can also be decent in the late-game scenarios. However, they either deal comparatively less damage than the S-tier or A-tier characters or have other striking issues that don’t make them worth investing.

1. Lingyang

Lingyang Wuthering Waves

Lingyang is actually one of my favorite characters in Wuthering Waves, however, he does have some big issues as a DPS. Firstly, Lingyang’s kit is completely damage focused, which is good, and deals a lot of stagger damage to enemies. However, his attacks are a bit slow, and more often than not you will get stuck in an attack animation when you are supposed to dodge the enemy attacks. This makes him less enjoyable as a DPS from many players and that’s why he is placed in B-tier.

2. Jianxin

Jjianxin Wuthering Waves

Jianxin has a very unique kit in the game at the moment, as she can heal, provide shields, and deal good AoE damage. However, everything in her kit is not that useful in the current version of the game. When it comes to healing, Verina is way ahead of Jianxin, while Baizhi is comparatively at the same range while being a free character. In terms of damage, Jianxin doesn’t put up the high numbers to be in the A or S tier. And her shield is basically useless at the current state of the game, as dodging and parrying is much more simpler.

3. Baizhi

Baizhi Wuthering Waves

Baizhi is a very strong 4-star support character, and one of the best healers in the game at the moment. Her entire kit is focused on healing the entire party. Her Resonance Skill can instantly heal the entire party, while her Resonance Liberation gives continuous healing for the on-field character. As a free character, she is very useful especially if you haven’t pulled Verina or Jianxin.

4. Yangyang

Yangyang Wuthering Waves

Yangyang is another free character given at the very start of the game and she is actually decent as a sub-DPS early on in the game. Her Resonance Forte skill allows her to deal a good amount of AoE cleave, and she can actually recover energy with her Outro skill. She can also group enemies with her Resonance Liberation, allowing your team to easily group low-level monsters and defeat them. However, Yangyang is very dependent on her Resonance Chain abilities if you want to build her for the end game, which is why she is placed in the B-tier.

5. Taoqi

Taoqi Wuthering Waves

Taoqi is a unique character in Wuthering Waves with the ability to provide shields and reduce damage taken for the entire team. Her Resonance Skill reduces damage taken by 15% for any on-field character, while her Resonance Forte provides a shield to mitigate damage. Taoqi is a good choice for players who struggle with dodging and parrying.

Wuthering Waves Tier List: C-Tier Characters

The C-tier characters in Wuthering Waves are only useful at the start of the game and should not be invested unless you really like the character. Their damage numbers are underwhelming and provide very little value to any team.

1. Chixia

Chixia Wuthering Waves

Chixia is one of the free characters given at the start of the game, and her entire kit is also damage focused. However, her damage output is underwhelming and she requires very high investment to become a good character. She can be a fun character to play early on in the game, but you shouldn’t invest too much in her as you enter mid-game.

2. Yuanwu

Yuanwu Wuthering Waves

Yuanwu is actually a really cool-looking character, however, he is equally underwhelming as a character. He is a sub-DPS and can do coordinate attacks, similar to Mortefi. Unfortunately, his damage numbers are very low compared to the other support and sub-DPS characters, making him an easy pick for the C-tier.

Wuthering Waves Tier List: D-Tier Resonators

The D-tier characters are the absolute worst characters in Wuthering Waves, and investing in them is a waste of resources.

1. Aalto

Aalto Wuthering Waves

Aalto is currently the worst character in Wuthering in version 1.0. He has a massive Resonance Liberation energy cost and requires very specific attacks to trigger his on-field kit. Other than that, he can be a decent buffer for Aero characters, but overall he is very underwhelming and it’s better to use other characters over him.
