The Itarim race was introduced in the Solo Leveling series through the Absolute Being. However, in the original series, the Itarim were never actually a threat to Jinwoo or the Earth. That had changed in the sequel, though. The Itarim, also known as Outer Gods, are the main antagonists of the sequel, Solo Leveling: Ragnarok. So, who exactly are these godly entities, and why do they want to invade Earth? Well, we have explained everything you should need about Itarim in Solo Leveling Ragnarok.
Itarim Are Cosmic Entities Threatening Earth

Itarim are Outer Gods who had existed before time. They are the celestial bodies that are capable of creating their own universes. So, each cosmic entity of the Itarim race created its own universe with powerful beings. For instance, the Absolute Being was one of their kind, and he created the universe comprised of species like Monarchs and Rulers.
Initially, he made the two forces believe that the war between them was crucial to maintaining the power balance, but things went south when the Rulers and the Monarchs learned his true intention. Apparently, the Absolute Being was using this war only to entertain himself and nothing else.
The other Outer Gods were no different, as each one of them wanted to engage their creations in endless wars for their own entertainment. Itarim is a race that doesn’t age and is only killed by its creations or any external source. That’s why the Rulers were able to kill the Absolute Being of their universe.
These entities don’t harbor any affection for each other. That’s why, instead of grieving the death of their fellow Absolute Being, each Itarim decided to claim the masterless realm, not collectively but individually. They sent their Apostles to the human world to trace the source of the unclaimed and unlimited Mana on Earth.
Jinwoo’s Fight Against the Itarim in Solo Leveling Ragnarok
Sometime after the fall of the Monarchs, Rulers learned about the antagonistic outer gods. They started fighting them, but the cosmic beings were way more powerful than they had thought. So, despite knowing that they couldn’t stand against these enemies for long, the Rulers continued locking horns with them.
However, with the arrival of Sung Jinwoo, things started to change. That’s because Jinwoo could add the dead enemies to his Shadow army, and this way, he could easily outnumber or at least match the opponent’s strength in numbers.
However, even though the Rulers and Jinwoo try harder to defeat them, the Itarim manage to send their Apostles to the human world. This leaves Jinwoo with no other option, and he is forced to then send Beru to prepare Sung Suho, his son, for the battle.
Jinwoo knew that only his son would be able to help him defeat the Itarim. So, he decided to unseal his son’s powers that he had suppressed years ago when Suho was a child. Now, we will have to wait and see how Suho levels up in powers and helps his father defeat the Itarim.
