Who is Varka in Genshin Impact?

Varka is the Grand Master and Knight of Boreus of the Knights of Favonius. He is known to be the strongest in Mondstadt. He left Mondstadt half a year before the start of the Traveler’s journey, leaving Jean as the acting Grand Master in his absence. Varka took eighty percent of the Knights of Favonius members with him to this expedition and is currently residing in Nod-Krai.

It was Varka who asked Barbatos (Venti) to set up a conference with Hexenzirkel, which ended up making them the strongest allies of Mondstadt. His exact reasons for being in Nod-Krai are yet unknown, so we can expect to learn about them in the Luna V Archon quest.

Genshin Varka Best Build

Here is Varka’s best build in Genshin Impact. Use this build to dominate any fight and to tear through the hardest challenges.

TypeInformation
WeaponGest of the Mighty Wolf
ArtifactA Day Carved From Rising Winds
Main StatsSands: ATK%
Goblet: ATK%
Circlet: Crit DMG = Crit Rate
Sub StatsCrit Rate = Crit DMG > ATK%

The build mainly rotates around building Crit Rate, Crit DMG, and ATK to scale all of Varka’s damage. It also prioritizes his signature weapon and the Hexenzirkel artifact set. Below, you can learn about Varka’s pros and cons and how to build him with alternative options.

Varka Build Pros and Cons

Varka is a strong Anemo DPS in Genshin Impact, but his damage is not comparable to some of the best DPS units in the game. That’s mainly due to the lack of any dedicated Hexerei mechanic that can be comparable to something like the Lunar reactions.

ProsCons
Strong Anemo DPSLimited F2P-friendly Weapon options
F2P-friendly team compsLacks dedicated team options
Easy to play
Can play in multiple elemental reaction teams

He is also heavily dependent on his signature weapon, with very limited F2P-friendly weapon options. Thankfully, Varka is also easy to play and features many F2P-friendly team options due to being a Hexerei character. He can also fit into multiple elemental reaction teams, giving him a versatility not many other characters have in the game.

Varka Stats

  • Crit Rate: 70%
  • Crit DMG: 160%
  • ATK: 3500

Varka is purely a Crit and ATK scaling character. So, these are the only stats you should be caring about for the Genshin Impact Varka build. Make sure to reach at least 70% Crit Rate and 160% Crit DMG on him, alongside 3500 ATK to get the best out of his kit.

Varka Weapons

  • Gest of the Mighty Wolf
  • A Thousand Blazing Suns
  • Redhorn Stonethresher
  • Beacon of the Red Sea
  • Verdict
  • Fang of the Mountain King
  • Wolf’s Gravestone
  • Serpent Spine
  • Blackcliff Slasher
  • Tidal Shadow

Varka’s signature weapon, ‘Gest of the Mighty Wolf,’ is his best-in-slot weapon by a huge margin. It gives him a 40% DMG increase over the nearest best weapon options, making him heavily dependent on it for damage output.

But if you don’t want to pull for his signature weapon, then other 5-star claymores like A Thousand Blazing Suns, Redhorn Stonethresher, Beacon of the Red Sea, and Verdict are good alternatives. Simply picking any weapon with a high ATK and Crit stat should be good enough for Varka.

When it comes to 4-star weapons, Varka only has a few options, and none of them are particularly good. You only get to choose between Serpent Spine, Blackcliff Slasher, and Tidal Shadow for his 4-star weapons.

Varka Artifacts

  • A Day Carved From Rising Winds
  • Desert Pavilion Chronicle
  • Shimenawa’s Reminiscence

A Day Carved From Rising Winds is the standard Hexerei artifact set, which also makes it the best artifact for Varka. Alongside it, you can also use the 4-piece sets of Desert Pavilion Chronicle or Shimenawa’s Reminiscence if you have better sub-stats on them.

Genshin Impact Varka Teams

Varka is a versatile DPS who can work with Pyro, Hydro, Electro, and Cryo teams. However, his best team comp will always be a Pyro team with Durin as his favorite ally. Hydro teams are Varka’s second-best in-slot teams, but neither Electro nor Cryo teams are recommended for him, even though he can play using them.

Another interesting thing about Varka’s team comp is that he particularly does well when paired with Columbina and Ineffa. However, that is mostly due to Columbina and Ineffa’s incredible combination rather than Varka’s synergy with Lunar teams.

When trying to create your own Varka team, the thing you need to make sure of is that he should always have one more Hexerei character and two Pyro, Cryo, Electro, or Hydro characters alongside him.

Varka Genshin Impact Kit

Here is a complete look at Genshin Impact Varka’s kit that will give you a good look at how to play his character.

Varka Genshin Kit Explained

  • Scaling: ATK
  • Role: Anemo DPS
  • Skill: Enhances Varka’s basic Attack and Skill and does AoE Anemo damage to enemies.
  • Enhanced Basic Attack: Using Varka’s Skill enhances his Basic attacks with increased damage and elemental infusion. His dual claymore deals corresponding Elemental damage based on the elements of his allies in the party. This elemental damage cannot be overridden by other infusions.
  • Enhanced Skill: With Pyro, Hydro, Electro, or Cryo characters in the party, Varka’s skill is enhanced and deals corresponding Elemental DMG and Anemo DMG together. He can also use multiple charges of his elemental skill to perform a special charged attack that doesn’t consume stamina while dealing the corresponding element damage and Anemo damage.
  • Burst Explained: It does two powerful slash attacks, one of which deals Anemo DMG while the other deals Elemental damage based on the element of the allies, between Pyro, Hydro, Electro, and Cryo.
  • Passives: His passives allow his Anemo damage and the corresponding elemental damage to increase based on his ATK stat.
  • Hexerei Mechanic: Varka is a Hexerei character, and playing him alongside other Hexerei characters would decrease the cooldown of his Special charged attack significantly.
