Alice in Borderland Season 3 is inching towards its official release, so it’s no wonder to see fans discussing the past events and the characters that made it a watch-worthy television series. The series introduced us to a few characters who captivated the hearts of a massive audience with their physicality, strength, and heartfelt backstories. Sadly, not all of them are returning in the new season; while many fans are familiar with Chishiya’s disappearance, they may not be aware of another major character who won’t be there in Alice in Borderland Season 3.
Alice in Borderland Fans Will Miss Kuina in Season 3
Kuina entered the game in Alice in Borderland’s Beach Arc. She made the global fans witness what beauty with brains actually looks like. Be it her strength, stamina, speed, and pain endurance, everything blew the minds of the fandom whenever she was on the screens. Alice in Borderland will never be the same without Kuina in it.
Like Arisu and Usagi, Kuina also returned to the real world at the end of Season 2. She woke up in the hospital without any memories of the Borderlands. So, she was expected to return in the upcoming Alice in Borderland Season 3.
Why Is Kuina Not in Alice in Borderland Season 3?
Aya Asahina, the actress playing the role of Kuina in Alice in Borderland, announced her first pregnancy through her Instagram account in December 2023, and that was the first time when fans started wondering if she would be a part of Alice in Borderland Season 3. That’s because the filming of the final season was about to commence in early-mid 2024.
Fans still hoped to see Asahina reprise her role in Season 3 until the arrival of the first official trailer, which ultimately showed no trace of Kuina. Additionally, Netflix also confirmed that Alice in Borderland’s primary focus will be on the leads, ie. Arisu and Usagi. So, no matter how disheartening, it would be wise to accept the fact that season 3 of the Netflix series won’t only keep Chishiya away from the games, but Kuina won’t be a part of the story as well.
