Why Abby Wants to Kill Joel In The Last Of Us Season 2?
To figure out why Abby has traveled several miles to look for Joel, we will have to go back to The Last of Us Season 1. Do you remember that Joel was supposed to drop Ellie at the Fireflies HQ? If yes, then you might remember that Joel killed several people to save Ellie, despite knowing that he is preventing those people from making a cure for the infection.
Ellie was immune to the infected’s bite, and one doctor working with the Fireflies could have used her body to create a cure for this disease in The Last of Us. There was one catch, though – Ellie wouldn’t have survived the surgery.
So, what did Joel do? He killed all members of the Fireflies in the building, including the innocent doctor. Sadly, Abby is the daughter of the doctor who was tasked with operating on Ellie.

Abby had a loving father who wanted nothing but to cure the world. But Joel not only snatched that one chance from humanity but also took away her father. Abby’s father wasn’t wrong, but Joel was ready to do everything to save Ellie. He could not let history repeat itself and snatch away one more daughter from his arms.
For Abby, though, Joel isn’t some loving father who saved his daughter; he is a cold-blooded killer who murdered her father. After learning what happened in the building, Abby makes it her mission to hunt down Joel. She wants to confront Joel and kill him for what he did to her father. Several miles is nothing; Abby can even travel halfway across the world to find her father’s killer.
Abby’s reason for wanting to kill Joel isn’t wrong; in fact, Joel, or anyone for that matter, would have done the same if they were in Abby’s shoes. This is one of the greatest things about TLOU’s story. It makes you wonder if there are actually any good guys in the story.
In the end, everyone is fighting to survive or save their loved ones, and they are ready to sacrifice anyone who gets in their way. But guess what? There are consequences to everything they do, and as expected, Joel will have to face the consequences for lying to Ellie and killing all those people in the Fireflies HQ.
