Superman (2025): What Are the Hypno-Glasses Clark Wears to Hide His Real Identity?

In Short
  • According to Superman (2025), Clark wears Hypno-Glasses, which make him look different and hence mask his identity as Superman.
  • Guy Gardner made this reveal to Lois Lane in the movie.
  • This concept is taken from Action Comics #32 and #33, which tells us that Superman uses hypnosis to hide his identity.

Superman is once again the talk of the town thanks to James Gunn’s brand-new movie, and while Clark Kent is back with his signature glasses to throw people off his real identity, the film finally gives us a solid reason why no one can figure out that Clark Kent is Superman, even with a disguise that’s literally just a pair of glasses. It turns out, James Gunn’s DCU pays tribute to the original comic books by revealing that no one recognizes Clark as Superman in Superman (2025) because of Hypno-Glasses. So, without further ado, let me tell you about Hypno-Glasses.

What Are the Hypno-Glasses in Superman (2025)?

In Superman (2025), Guy Gardner tells Lois Lane that Clark wears Hypno glasses, and because of them, no one can tell that he is Superman. According to Guy Gardner, Clark’s Hypno-Glasses make his face look different to others so that no one can tell that he is Superman.

This little detail is taken from Action Comics #32 and #33, where we are told that Clark wears glasses made of “Kryptonian plexiglass” that creates a hypnosis-like effect on people around to make himself look different to others. This is why no one can see through his simple disguise of a pair of glasses.

This is a cool detail that has been added to the movie because it has been long overdue that someone tells us how no one can figure out that Clark Kent is Superman while all he does is put on a pair of glasses. So, with that being said, I find this addition to be quite necessary. What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
