How to Get Solgaleo in Pokemon GO

There are three different ways to get a Solgaleo in Pokemon GO. Here’s a list of them:

1. Raids: The most efficient and fastest way to get Solgaleo in Pokemon GO is by participating in 5-star raids. Solgaleo will be available in the 5-star raids from February 16 to February 21, 2026. Raid Hour on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, will feature increased Solgaleo raids from 6 PM to 7 PM local time. Save your Raid Passes or buy from the in-game shop using PokeCoins. Remember to stock up on Potions, Revives, and Berries too.
2. Event-themed Special Research Tasks: Other than defeating Pokemon GO Raid Boss, you can sometimes encounter Solgaleo by completing event-themed Special Research Tasks. Currently, there are no event Special Researches that reward a Solgaleo encounter. The Special Research for “The Dusk Settles” event in 2024 rewarded players with a Solgaleo encounter when completed, but it has already expired. You need to actively play the game to not miss out on these events, or you can bookmark our article, as we will update it frequently.
3. Evolve Cosmeom: Other than raids, you can evolve your Cosmog into Cosmeom using 25 Cosmog candies. Cosmeom can be further evolved into Solgaleo during the day using 100 Cosmog candies. The only way to get Cosmog is via the ‘Cosmic Companion’ Special Research.
4. GO Battle League encounter: The last method to get a Solgaleo is by participating in Pokemon GO Battle League ranked matches. Once you reach rank 20 in GBL, there is a slight chance to encounter a Legendary Pokemon featured in raids, with the pool of other available Pokemon. This isn’t an easy feat, and the chance of encountering one is very random.

Fusing Solgaleo with Necrozma in Pokemon GO

You can fuse your Solgaleo with a Necrozma in Pokemon GO using Solar Fusion Energy to get a Dusk Mane Necrozma.

Solar Fusion Energy can be obtained by defeating Dusk Mane Necrozma in raids. Each raid battle yields a minimum of 80 Fusion Energy, and sometimes more, depending on the raid speed and bonus challenge. To farm 1000 Solar Fusion Energy, you need to complete at least 10 Dusk Mane Necrozma raids.

Along with 1000 Solar Fusion Energy, you need to make sure that you have 30 Cosmog Candy, 30 Necrozma Candy, a Solgaleo, and a Necrozma. With all these resources ready, you can fuse your Solgaleo with Necrozma by clicking on the Fuse option of your choice of Necrozma.

Fusing a Necrozma with a Solgaleo will give you the legacy move Sunsteel Strike on your Dusk Mane Necrozma. You can activate the Adventure effect of this move for 10 minutes using 3,000 Stardust and 3 Necrozma Candy. The Adventure effect attracts Pokemon that appear during the daytime, similar to Incense. Additionally, Pokemon that can only evolve during the day will be able to evolve at any time while this Adventure Effect is active.

Note:

The stats of your Dusk Mane Necrozma depends on the Necrozma, and not the Solgaleo. Fusing your best Necrozma with the weakest Solgaleo is recommended. That way you can still use your stronger Solgaleo in battles, without making them unavailable.

Can Shiny Solgaleo Be Found in Pokemon GO?

No, as of now, shiny Solgaleo has not been released in Pokemon GO. However, we expect that once it’s released in the game, like other Legendaries, Solgaleo will have a base shiny rate of 1 in 20. The shiny rate will be significantly lower compared to any wild Pokemon spawn and spotlight hour spawns.

Where is Solgaleo Ranked in Pokemon GO Meta?

Solgaleo is a very powerful Psychic and Steel attacker in the current Pokemon GO Meta. Here’s a complete analysis of Solgaleo’s rankings:

• Raid Attacker: Solgaleo isn’t a great Raid Attacker. However, Dusk Mane Necrozma is considered a top-tier Raid Attacker, boasting high defense, attack, and stamina. With a very consistent TDO, it can deal a lot of damage in raids, without fainting early on. Dusk Mane Necrozma also competes with some top Mega Evolutions, Shadow Pokemon, and legendaries in the game.
• Gym Defender: As a Legendary Pokemon, Solgaleo cannot defend Gyms.
• Steel Type Attacker: Solgaleo ranks in the top 70 Steel-type attackers with Zen Headbutt and Iron Head. However, Pokemon like Dusk Mane Necrozma, Mega Metagross, and Crowned Sword Zacian are ruling as the best options.
• Psychic Type Attacker: Solgaleo is ranked similarly in the best Psychic-type attacker category. It ranks in the top 70, with Zen Headbutt and Psychic Fangs. However, Dusk Mane Necrozma ranks in the top 3 of the category.
• Ultra League: Solgaleo belongs in the top 345, and isn’t a worthy Pokemon for this league. Ultra League requires at least 2500 CP, and Solgaleo, being a legendary Pokemon, its stats will get lower with its level and CP, making it a very bad choice.
• Master League: On the other hand, Solgaleo is one of the better choices for Master League with a top 31 rank. This can be a decent option, but there are better alternatives like Metagross, Zacian, and Dialga.

That said, Solgaleo is a decent Pokemon to have in Pokemon GO as it doesn’t perform that well by itself. However, if you fuse Solgaleo and Necrozma, Dusk Mane Necrozma is one of the best Pokemon in the game. That’s why we recommend that you get at least a few Solgaleo before the raid duration ends.
