Severance Season 2 has finally reached its end. While it was an absolute banger of a journey just like the previous season, the finale has left a lot of doors unopened. Once again, we are left with a cliffhanger before the release of the next season of Severance. In the Severance Season 2 finale’s ending, we finally see the reunion of Mark and his wife Gemma, who he had been looking for since the first episode. However, even this time, Mark could not have a happy ending. So, let me bring you everything that happened at the end of Severance Season 2 Finale.
Cold Harbor’s Truth Finally Revealed
In the previous episode, we see that Cobel, Devon, and Mark met in a severed room of the birthing cabin to make a plan of how to get Gemma out of the testing floor as once Mark S. completes the Cold Harbor file, Gemma will be killed. Cobel also reveals that every file Mark has worked on in MDR is a different personality integrated into Gemma’s severance chip for scientists at Lumon to study and Cold Harbor is the last one.
They come up with a plan where Mark S. will take the elevator down to the testing floor and as soon as his outie takes control, he will find Gemma and get her back into the elevator. Following this, Mark S. will guide Gemma to the stairwell finally letting her escape.
However, there is a massive catch, once Gemma is free and the truth of Lumon is out, the company will probably be taken down and the lives of all the innies will come to an end. Now since Mark S. is in love with Helly, he does not want his life to end and has a heated to and fro with his outie via a video camera.
Even though his outie tries his best to convince Mark S. that he is not using him. In the end, Mark’s outie agrees to help Mark S. in getting Gemma out.
The Escape From Lumon
Back at Lumon, Mark sits down at his console and starts working on the Cold Harbor file since he needs to first complete it and then go save Gemma since he would know where exactly is she. However, as soon as Mark finishes the file, festivities begin in the office and Mark is stuck there along with Helly. Lumon’s marching band from C&M shows up making things even more cluttered for Mark to go save Gemma.
To help Mark, Helly steals Milchik’s radio and lures him into the bathroom only to lock him inside while Mark makes a run to the elevator. Even though Helly locked in Milchik, he almost escaped and just before he could get out, Dylan shows up with a wending machine and blocks the door. On the other hand, Cecily, from Mammalians Nurturable is preparing a goat to be sacrificed at the hands of Drummond. Before Drummond could kill the goat, he heard someone trying to break a door and as it turns out, it was Mark.
Drummond throws his hands on Mark and starts to choke him. However, Mark is saved by Cecily, and after a fight between Drummond and Cecily, she emerges victorious. Mark holds Drummond hostage with the nail gun and goes down to the testing floor. However, while he switches personalities with his outie, he accidentally pulls the trigger and kills Drummond. Mark’s outie runs down hallways and finally finds the Cold Harbor room where Gemma’s new personality is being tested.
He cleverly uses Drummond’s blood to gain access to the room and convinces Gemma to get out of the room. As soon as she steps out of there, we finally get to see the reunion of Mark and Gemma after two seasons. They rush to the elevator while being chased by the scientists on the testing floor and successfully make it to the severed floor.
Now, it was Mark’s innie’s job to get Gemma out. He runs across hallways and leads her to the stairwell sending her out. However, he sees Helly standing behind him and chooses his own life over his outie. He takes her hand and runs back into the hallways as the show comes to an end on a freeze frame. Severance Season 2 Episode 10 gave us another cliffhanger of an ending leaving questions like, what happened to Milchik? Did Gemma make it out? What will happen to Mark and Helly? It seems like we will have to wait once again to find answers and till then, stay tuned with us for more updates!
