Rick and Morty x Fortnite Collaboration Overview
The Fortnite x Rick and Morty crossover first kicked off in Chapter 2 Season 7, which saw Dr. Slone and the Imagined Order bringing Rick Sanchez to the Battle Royale island to take on the unprecedented threat of the Last Reality. Initially, the collaboration only featured the Rick Sanchez skin, which was part of Chapter 2 Season 7’s Battle Pass, released on June 8, 2021.
However, Epic has since expanded this collaboration roster by adding other characters like the titular Morty to the game as well. The Mecha Morty skin was released in the Fortnite Item Shop on August 22, 2021, alongside other skins like Queen Summer and Mr. Meeseeks. Each of these characters came packaged with themed cosmetics like pickaxes and back blings in their respective bundles.
After Wave 2 of the collab, many thought the Rick and Morty collab had officially wrapped up. However, almost 5 years after the release of Wave 2, Epic surprised players with Wave 3 of the Rick and Morty skins, released on March 7, 2026. This wave features the infamous Pickle Rick skin, along with new Mr. PB and Squanchy Fortnite Sidekicks.

One of the biggest questions on players’ minds when it comes to the Rick and Morty collaboration is the original Rick Sanchez skin, and whether they can still acquire it in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 1. Unfortunately, since the Rick Sanchez skin was exclusive to Chapter 2 Season 7, it will never be available to acquire again. While Epic has changed its old Fortnite Battle Pass policies to make cosmetics from the Passes available in the Item Shop, these changes only apply to Battle Passes from Chapter 5 Season 4 onwards.
However, Epic Games is known to release alternate versions of the best Fortnite collaboration skins. This means that, if you want to play as Rick Sanchez, you can get alternate skins for him, like the Pickle Rick skin, which is currently available in the Item Shop. The good news is that Rick Sanchez is the only Battle Pass exclusive skin in this collaboration, which means skins like Mecha Morty and Queen Summer can return to the Fortnite Item Shop at any time.
