Just a few short days after announcing that the Realme 5-series smartphones will be launched in India on August 20, Realme CEO, Madhav Sheth (@MadhavSheth1), has revealed that the Realme 5 will be priced starting at under Rs. 10,000. Earlier rumors had suggested that the device might be priced starting at Rs. 9,999, while its more powerful sibling, the Realme 5 Pro, may be priced starting at around the Rs. 15,000 mark.
While Realme has officially confirmed some of the important features of the upcoming devices, most of their key tech specs remain under the wraps for now. Both devices have been confirmed to ship with quad-cam setups at the back, as part of the company’s plans to launch photography-focused quad-cam smartphones in every segment. However, while the Pro model will sport a 48MP primary sensor, the standard model is rumored to ship with a 12MP chip as its primary imaging option.
A recent Geekbench listing may have revealed some of the key tech specs of the Realme 5, including the processor, RAM and operating system. As per the listing, the device may ship with the Snapdragon 665 SoC, 4GB of RAM and Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box, although none of that has been confirmed by Realme officially.
Recent leaks and rumors may have also possibly revealed some of the key details about the Realme 5 Pro, including the identity of the 48MP sensor. According to a tweet from tipster Sudhanshu Ambhore (@Sudhanshu1414) earlier this week, the primary sensor will be Sony’s IMX586, while other key hardware components will include the Snapdragon 712 SoC, a notched AMOLED display and an in-display fingerprint scanner.
