Mega Gyarados EX Deck Strategy
The strategy to use the Mega Gyarados EX deck involves setting up your Mega Gyarados EX with proper energy, so that it can dish out damage as early as possible. You also need to make sure that your Magikarp isn’t sniped by your opponent.
This deck includes eight Pokemon cards, among them Mantyke and Manaphy are of 50 HP each. When the round starts, you must try to get any one of the four 50 HP Pokemon cards as your active Pokemon and Magikarp as your benched card.
Keep in mind that Magikarp will be benched for the entire duration until it evolves. This is because we need to preserve our Magikarp for Mega Gyarados EX.
Magikarp has 30 HP and can be KO-ed easily by your opponent. On the other hand, it will take two turns to knock out the 50HP Pokemon (one turn if Giovanni is used, which most opponents don’t in today’s decks). Mantyke and Manaphy can also generate energy for Mega Gyarados ex and help you get the beast ready for attack.
If you don’t have any Pokemon other than your active one, use Lisia, May, or Poke Balls to draw the required card. You can also use Professor’s Research to draw cards. If you have a Giant Cape card in your hand, use it on the Magikarp for +20 HP. This will provide extra sustainability and avoid them from getting sniped by Pokemon like Greninja.
By Turn 3, you should have the Mega Gyarados EX card in your hand (I hope we are all that lucky), which you can then use. The earlier you evolve your Magikarp, the better it is. Use Misty to get more energy on your Gyarados if it lacks the required four energy to attack. Irida can be used to heal 40 HP, and Red can be used to deal +20 damage to your opponents’ active EX card.
Mega Gyarados EX can dish out a lot of damage (140 DMG) with every attack and discard the top three cards from your opponent’s deck. It is a powerful deck if properly played. However, you must be careful during Turns 1 and 2, as your opponents might try to KO both of your Magikarp.
That said, we are still trying out deck combinations, and any other changes will be updated. If you have any suggestions, feel free to comment below.
