What Is Bartolomeo’s Role in One Piece Live Action?
Bartolomeo is a major ally of Luffy who appears and plays a vital role in the Dressrosa arc in One Piece. Just as Roger’s speech at his execution sparked fire among the next generation of pirates, Bartolomeo, who was present during Luffy’s execution by Buggy, was greatly inspired by the Straw Hat Pirates’ captain.
Before crossing paths with Luffy, Bartolomeo used to be the boss of a criminal gang that terrorized towns in the East Blue. The production team brilliantly incorporated Bartolomeo’s backstory into the new One Piece and presented the live-action version of the green-haired guy Bartolomeo in the opening episode set in Logue Town. Nahum Hughes, the rising actor who has appeared in Saints & Strangers, The Mauritanian, and Tutankhamun plays Bartolomeo in the One Piece live-action series.

Bartolomeo Is Luffy’s Biggest Fan in One Piece

Inspired by Luffy, Bartolomeo also becomes a pirate and sets sail on the seas in One Piece. He forms a new pirate crew called the ‘Barto Club.’ Throughout the series, Bartolomeo keeps track of Luffy’s adventures and rebellion, which continues to inspire him to this day. When Bartolomeo joined the competition in the Corrida Colosseum, he finally crossed paths with his idol for the first time in the Dressrosa arc.
However, the live-action has made a drastic change by letting Bartolomeo meet Luffy in his mob days. Then, when Bartolomeo gets caught up in the problem between the Buggy Pirates and Luffy, he gets to see the miracle of Luffy declaring his dream and escaping his death at Logue Town. Now, Luffy has lit the spark in the live-version of Bartolomeo in One Piece Season 2. So, we will soon be able to see Bartolomeo fanboying over Luffy and his crew in One Piece live-action.
