The second season of One Piece live-action by Netflix is jam-packed with many cameos and easter eggs. However, longtime One Piece fans are having a feast with Netflix’s live-action One Piece Season 2. A secret cameo of Sabo in episode 1 of One Piece Season 2 has just solved a long-standing mystery revolving around that character.

Spoilers Warning: This article contains spoilers about Sabo from One Piece. Read at your own discretion if you wish to find out who Sabo is and how the live-action series just solved one of the mysteries related to him.

Sabo Officially Makes His Live-Action Debut in One Piece Season 2

Sabo is one of Luffy’s sworn brothers in One Piece. He grew up with Luffy and Ace near Foosha Village after running away from his home. Sabo officially debuted in the One Piece series in the Marineford arc, nearly 500 chapters and 450+ episodes later in the manga and anime. However, One Piece fans have been debating about the presence of Sabo in the Logue Town arc.

During Luffy’s execution, a character with a top hat was present who closely mirrored Sabo’s appearance in the One Piece series. This led to an argument about whether the author Oda had Sabo in mind from the beginning of the series, or if it was just a coincidence. Many fans believed the latter, and the author could have easily chosen to come up with a similar design for Sabo later on. But now Sabo’s official debut in live-action One Piece Season 2 just changed our perspectives forever as it indirectly confirms Sabo was present during Luffy’s execution at Logue Town.

After Monkey D. Dragon saved Luffy from getting arrested by Smoker, the Marine Captain, the Revolutionary Army leader was happy to see his son choosing the path of a pirate and granted him his blessings. The scene played out faithfully to the source material, but with a major change. Sabo appeared behind Dragon in his iconic top hat, equipped with a pair of goggles. This didn’t happen at all in the manga or anime.

Newcomers may have missed this cameo, thinking it was a stranger, but veterans undoubtedly know that it’s our boy, Sabo, the Flame Emperor. The live-action One Piece team has just confirmed that Sabo was right there when Luffy was being executed by Buggy and watched the miracle unfold before his own eyes.

Now, Sabo’s cameo in live-action One Piece Season 2 is a subtle nod to a well-known fan theory among the One Piece community. We don’t have to debate once again whether we can consider this canon or not, but what we can do is enjoy the moment of seeing one of Luffy’s brothers in One Piece live-action. If you think about it, we might have never been able to see Sabo’s adult version until the live-action reaches the Dressrosa arc.

It makes perfect sense why the live-action team included this cameo, as Dragon took Sabo under his wing and trained him all this time. Sabo’s live-action actor currently remains unknown at the moment. That said, do you finally accept that Sabo was present at Logue Town now, as the live-action adaptation hints at?
