One Piece Chapter 1129 Reveals How Straw Hats Ended up in the Sun God’s Clutches

Spoiler Warning: This article includes spoilers for the One Piece manga chapter 1129.

After escaping safely from the wrath of the Five Elders on Egghead Island, the Straw Hats set the course to Elbaf, the homeland of the Giants. Along with them, the Straw Hat Pirates were partying hard, celebrating their victory on the futuristic island. However, things took a turn as the OG Straw Hat members went missing on their journey. In the following chapters, we learned that they were transported to a mysterious region on the island. But we were left to wonder how they ended up in that place. Well, we finally have the full picture.

As we were left on our own to predict how the Straw Hat Pirate members disappeared, fans started concocting theories like Ussop. In previous chapters, Oda mentioned that they drank absinthe, the green fairy drink during the party and its aftereffects. Therefore, most fans started to think that the members were hallucinating and none of what was happening was real.

While this sounded plausible as there were many continuity errors in the chapters, Oda sensei has now confirmed that all of it was real. After Elbaf’s Sun God was revealed to be Rodo, he explained how the Straw Hats went MIA in a flashback. Rodo’s raven Mugin was the culprit who kidnapped the Straw Hats while they were asleep as it has the habit of bringing things to its lord.

In One Piece chapter 1129, the sun god impersonator further explained that they were asleep as the ship might have passed through the ‘sleeping mist belt’ on their way to Elbaf.

So, it wasn’t the absinthe and its hallucinations that affected our crew members. Oda rather brought in an underwhelming explanation for this puzzling occurrence earlier. That said, the first mystery of the Elbaf arc has been solved already, and are you satisfied with the clarification? Let us know in the comments below.
