HMD Global has just launched the much-anticipated Nokia X6 in China and it is the company’s first smartphone with the ‘notch‘.

In terms of tech specs, the Nokia X6 features a 5.8-inch full HD+ display with 2.5D curved glass and 19:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by the Snapdragon 636, and comes with 4GB/6GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of storage that can be expanded up to 256GB.

The Nokia X6 runs Android Oreo out-of-the-box, and offers software-based facial recognition, like many other recent Android devices. Connectivity features include 4G VoLTE, USB Type-C port, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

If it’s launched outside China, it will likely ship with Android One software like other Nokia phones this year, which would make it the first official Android One phone with a notch – and Android P beta does not count.

The rear-facing camera-setup on the device comes with a 16MP sensor and a 5MP sensor, while the front-facing camera ships with a 16MP sensor coupled with an f/2.0 lens. The rear-facing camera also comes with crucial software, including EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization), HDR and a ‘Bokeh’ mode (otherwise known as the ‘portrait mode’). The Nokia X6 also comes with the company’s ‘Bothie’ feature that lets you shoot with the front and rear cameras simultaneously.

Along with competitive specs, Nokia has added some basic AI-based features such as scene recognition, but that’s not groundbreaking these days.

In China, the 4GB+32GB model has been priced at 1,299 Yuan (around Rs. 13,800), while the 4GB+64GB version comes with a 1,499 yuan price-tag (around Rs. 16,000). The 6GB+64GB variant, meanwhile, is priced at 1,699 yuan (around Rs. 18,100).
