Xiaomi teased us with the first-ever official render of the truly bezel-less Mi Mix 3, with a sliding camera module over the weekend. Now, Xiaomi’s Director of Product Management and Marketing, Donavan Sung has given us a look at the device in real-life.
Yes, the device you see in the tweet attached below is the Mi Mix 3 and damn, it looks absolutely stunning at first sight. It’s almost an all screen smartphone, with minimal bezels on all sides and no awfully-placed selfie camera in the chin, as Akshay had rightly pointed out.
Xiaomi has now moved the selfie camera and sensors to an Oppo Find X-like sliding camera mechanism, which isn’t visible here. The previous render gave us a look at what’s packed in that sliding section could be two selfie camera, IR face unlocking, or possibly the complete Face ID tech we’ve seen on the Mi 8 Explorer Edition.
There’s currently no mention of whether it will be motorized (like the Oppo Find X) or manually-operated (like age-old slider phones or the Honor Magic 2), however, it is the next trend – giving the notch a run for its money.
However, if you look at the image closely and zoom to the network bars at the top right, you will find a sweet surprise. It looks like the Mi Mix 3 would be the first smartphone to support 5G connectivity out-of-the-box. In fact, Xiaomi has successfully tested 5G data connections on its smartphones and according to them, 5G download speeds are more than 10 times faster than 4G.
Apart from this, the Mi Mix 3 is expected to sport a huge 2K display with a never-heard-before screen-to-body ratio. It is expected to be powered with the Snapdragon 845 SoC, up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage.
We could also expect to see the latest Snapdragon 855 aboard the Mi Mix 3, paired with the chipmaker’s 5G modem. The device could also bring an in-display fingerprint sensor, wireless charging, and MIUI 10 in tow. So, are you excited for the launch of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3?
