12 Best My Hero Academia Female Characters, Ranked

In Short

Once you start watching My Hero Academia, the vibrant characters of the superhero anime will win you over and make you root for them in the fight against All of One and his minions. In addition to drawing some of the greatest heroes ever, MHA author Kohei Horikoshi also created some of the most compelling and powerful female characters in his superhero saga. As the series comes to a close, let’s take a look at the best female characters in MHA and rank them.

Spoilers Warning: This article includes spoilers for My Hero Academia by Kohei Horikoshi. Proceed with caution.

12. Eri

12 Best My Hero Academia Female Characters, Ranked

Eri, a young girl with one of the strongest quirks, was first introduced in the Shie Hassaikai Arc. She is also a character with a tragic storyline in My Hero Academia. Right after she was born, she was abandoned by her mom as she accidentally made her dad disappear from the world with her quirk. I know, you’re curious now, so learn about Eri’s quirk right here. The granddaughter of the old boss was then abused and exploited for the production of Quirk-Destroying Drug.

Fortunately, Eri was rescued by Deku and she was in rehabilitation with the heroes to overcome her traumas. Even in the final act saga, Eri’s character and her quirk were vital to save Izuku Midoriya who lost his hands. Eri will always be a fan-favorite and must-protect character in My Hero Academia.

11. Mina Ashido: Pinky

12 Best My Hero Academia Female Characters, Ranked

Mina Ashido aka Pinky is one of the best female characters in MHA because of her fun-loving and brave side. Despite being born with a less combative quirk, she has turned around her situation greatly with her presence of mind.

Pinky does her part well in the final war and always steps up to do anything to take of her friends. Her presence in My Hero Academia brings amusement to the fans.

10. Cathleen Bate: Star and Stripes

Cathleen Bate, aka Star and Stripe, the No. 1 Pro Hero of the USA is one of the biggest fan of All Might. She showed up during the final war to help the Japanese superheroes in their fight against Tomura Shigaraki and, unfortunately, lost her life during it. Even though she appeared for a brief moment, she is greatly endeared by MHA fans.

Getting inspired by All Might, Star and Stripe with her New Order quirk rose up to become the top hero in her country. She was a charismatic and inspiring character, just like her idol. Cathleen greatly helped our young superheroes in the Final war, and her sacrifice wasn’t in vain.

9. Nemuri Kayama: Midnight

12 Best My Hero Academia Female Characters, Ranked

Nemuri Kayama, more popularly known as the R-Rated Hero: Midnight, was a Pro-hero as well as a teacher at U.A. High School. She handled the Modern Hero Art History department for our young heroes. Midnight had a standout quirk called Somnambulist, which could put others to sleep. Apart from her looks, Midnight sensei assisted students in becoming the best version of themselves.

Sadly, we lost Midnight sensei during the Paranormal Liberation War, but she will always be remembered by our heroes for her accomplishments.

8. Kyoka Jiro: Earphone Jack

12 Best My Hero Academia Female Characters, Ranked

The Hearing Hero: Earphone Jack, Kyoka Jiro is a hard-headed hero and acts like an ambivert in My HHA. Even without a powerful quirk, Jiro was able to take full advantage of her quirk to help the hero’s cause in every way. Jiro is a quick-witted female character and team player who is very protective of her friends in My Hero Academia.

In the final war, she saved Endeavor and Hawks along with Tokoyami although she lost one of her ears i.e., the earphone jack in the process.

7. Nejire Hado

12 Best My Hero Academia Female Characters, Ranked

Nejire Hado, who is part of The Big 3 at U.A. High, is one of the fan-favorite senpai in My Hero Academia. She is fondly called Nejire Chan and has been playing a vital role in the final war along with her friends.

Nejire’s backstory was recently revealed, which showcased her personality to be a caring and loving character. Being a part of The Big 3, there is no doubt that Nejire is one of the strongest heroes coming from the U.A. High, easily making her one of the best female characters in MHA.

6. Kaina Tsutsumi: Lady Nagant

12 Best My Hero Academia Female Characters, Ranked

Instead of Kaina Tsutsumi, she is known by most people as Lady Nagant. She has been part of both the Pro Heroes and Villains in My Hero Academia, making her a complex female character in the series. She used to be an optimistic hero but was made to join the dark side due to the corrupted system.

However, her encounter with Deku made her self-reflect her decision. Thankfully, it was due to our protagonist that she joined the Pro Heroes side in the final war. She was one of the finest additions to the team as she possessed a very overpowered Rifle quirk, which also captivated the fans like me.

5. Momo Yaoyorozu: Creati

12 Best My Hero Academia Female Characters, Ranked

Among the best female characters in My Hero Academia, one always has to create space for Momo Yaoyorozu. She captured the hearts of many MHA fans, thanks to her distinct personality and unique quirk.

Being the vice class representative, she developed the leadership qualities to lead her friends in battle over time. She is also confirmed to be one of the smartest MHA characters, which is, well, a requirement for her “Creation” quirk. As this quirk is not best-suited for combat, Yaoyorozu aided the Pro Heroes in a supportive role in the final war.

4. Tsuyu Asui: Froppy

12 Best My Hero Academia Female Characters, Ranked

Tsuyu Asui aka Froppy is a composed hero with frog abilities. If you wonder what she could do against villains with this simple quirk, Tsuyu has easily proven each and every doubter wrong. Tsu is a very smart woman and cleverly handles battles with a cool head.

Froggy makes use of her frog powers to the fullest extent in a sticky situation (see what I did there). Her quirk helps her remain agile in a supportive role as she lacks the raw power. Tsuyu has an aloof personality and being frank as ever has turned her into a fan-favorite female character.

3. Rumi Usagiyama: Mirko

12 Best My Hero Academia Female Characters, Ranked

Rumi Usagiyama, more popularly known by her hero name Mirko, is one of the strongest female characters in the MHA universe. Mirko is a rough and tough character who became the No. 5 Pro Hero with her indomitable spirit. Mirko has the skills and abilities of a rabbit, thanks to her quirk.

With this quirk, she didn’t just become the fastest but also trained her body to evolve as one of the most powerful Pro Heroes of all time. Fans love Mirko for being valiant in battle and her accomplishments in the series.

2. Himiko Toga

12 Best My Hero Academia Female Characters, Ranked

Despite being on the villain’s side, Himiko Toga continued to be one of the best and most fan-favorite female characters in MHA from the start. Thanks to Horikoshi sensei’s wonderful characterization of Himiko, the end of her beautifully complicated character left us heavy-hearted. Having a troubled childhood and without a friend like Uraraka by her side, Himiko switched to the dark side in her unstable state.

Deep beneath her sadistic villain version, she was a compassionate soul twisted by her surroundings. Thankfully, despite she was almost killed in the process, Uraraka made Himiko realize her true self in the final war, and she was able to make one final amend.

Himiko Toga, for the uninformed, had the twisted Transform quirk befitting her goals. She wreaked havoc with this quirk from the beginning and, in the end, the same quirk helped her save a hero’s life.

1. Ochaco Uraraka: Uravity

12 Best My Hero Academia Female Characters, Ranked

Without a doubt, the No. 1 position belongs to Ochaco Uraraka, the best girl from MHA. Ochaco is a caring girl full of positivity and has the will to stick to her hero ideals until the very end. She isn’t kind just to her friends but also her enemies, as seen in her decision to help Himiko Toga. In the Final Act Saga, Ochaco’s motives and the ideals of her character are reflected in the audience.

Just like how she slowly climbed her way up to become the best female character in MHA, she also worked her way up to hone her quirk’s abilities over time. She was also able to awaken her gravity quirk, give a helping hand to her friends and save them by confronting Himiko.

With the series’ end, Ochaco will always be remembered as one of the best characters penned by Horikoshi sensei. That said, who is your favorite female character in MHA? Let us know in the comments below.
