Apple TV is known for having some of the best shows on any streaming platform. The one problem people have with the platform is the exorbitant subscription price that backs all the content it has to offer. However, this month, you guys have the opportunity to have a taste of everything Apple TV+ has to offer since all its content is free to stream this weekend (January 4 and 5). Since we just have two days to watch the content for free, let me share a list of the best shows and movies that you can watch and finish on Apple TV+ this weekend comfortably!
1. Severance
This is the very first time Apple TV+ has come up with an offer like this, and they have done it for one reason only. Severance Season 2 is set to release on January 17, 2025, and since there is a lot of hype around this show, Apple TV+ has made their service free so that they can increase their viewer base for this show, potentially increasing their subscriber count.
Severance Season 1 is the third most-watched show. The show follows the story of Mark who works at a corporation named Lumon. The company makes their employees go through a procedure where they put a mico-chip in their brains which splits them into two different people, one who works at Lumon and the other with their outside normal personality. However, a lot is going on behind the curtains that Mark and his Macrodata Refinement team are hellbent on uncovering.
2. Sugar
If you are a fan of characters like Sherlock Holmes and James Bond, this series is something that you’re going to love. Sugar revolves around John Sugar, a private investigator who has been summoned by a Hollywood producer whose granddaughter is missing, and what seems to be just a missing person’s case turns out to be a lot more with pretty good twists and turns.
With just 8 episodes in total, you can easily watch this series in one sitting or maybe two, so for the short time we have with Apple TV+’s free weekend this is the ideal show to binge.
3. Greyhound
Greyhound might just be one of the best movies done by Tom Hanks. This movie revolves around the US Navy commander Ernest Krause. He is assigned to command an allied armada across the Atlantic Ocean in World War 2. However, his fleet is being followed by German U-boats, and even though this is Krause’s first time being deployed, he takes it into his own hands to make sure his men survive and in what is known as the most complex battles in history — The Battle of The Atlantic.
4. Tetris
Almost all of us at one point have played Tetris since it literally is the most played game in the world. However, not a lot of us are familiar with everything that went down behind the curtains to make sure Tetris reaches the world.
We follow the story of Henk Rogers who made it his mission in life to make sure he gets Tetris and its creator out of the USSR and bring him the fame he deserves while bringing the game to the world. This movie might just be one of the best movies I have ever watched considering the visuals and the artistic approach taken to bring this enthralling story to our screens.
5. Ted Lasso
Ted Lasso is one of the most loved shows Apple TV+ has to offer. This show is wholesome, and fun and has its emotional moments bringing us a beautifully wrapped tale of a man who fights against all odds with a smile on his face. This show follows an American football coach who gets hired to teach soccer to an English team.
He was hired with the intent that since he is not familiar with the sport the team would collapse under his leadership but with Ted’s optimism, spirit, and warmth, he makes everything fall into place.
Ted Lasso is an insanely good show that has more than 30 episodes so there is no way this can be finished in two days. So, if you have wanted to watch this show, but were skeptical of the price tag it came with this is your opportunity to have a taste of the show and if you like it, you can get yourself a subscription and continue watching this show.
So, with that, we have a list of shows and movies you can watch this weekend on Apple TV+ for free, and stay tuned with us for further updates!
