Minecraft Snapshot 25W17A Brings Locator Bar Out of Experiments, Realm Changes and More

In Short
  • Minecraft Snapshot 25W17A moves the Locator Bar out of the Experimental features.
  • The Locator Bar will help you track down your friends a lot easier than following the coordinates.
  • Additionally, there are a few changes in the Realms UI to make it simpler and easier for the players.

After the transportation overhaul of the past week, Mojang is now moving the Player Locator Bar out of the Experimental features in Minecraft Java. In addition to that, we can experience and enhanced UI alongside a few gameplay improvements in the latest Minecraft Snapshot 25W17A. So with that, let’s begin exploring all that’s new.

Locator Bar Helps Track Players With Ease

Minecraft Snapshot 25W17A begins with the complete integration of the Locator Bar into the game. Previously, it was introduced in the Minecraft Snapshot 25W15A as an experimental feature, whereas now, you can experience this HUD element as any other gameplay mechanic by downloading the latest snapshot in your launcher.

Once you enable the Locator Bar, the XP bar is replaced with it if you’re playing with your friends in the multiplayer mode. Your friends will be visible as colored indicators on the bar when they’re in your 120-degree field of view. Furthermore, these indicators can display an arrow to denote whether a player is on a high-level ground or deep inside the caves, engrossed in mining.

However, suppose some players decide to play hide-and-seek. In that case, they can become incognito by crouching, wearing a mob head, a carved pumpkin, or using the potion of invisibility on themselves. This way, their indicators won’t be visible on the Locator bar.

Lastly, server moderators can modify the indicator colors using the /waypoint command or even disable the feature using locatorbar gamerule.

Minecraft Snapshot 25W17A Brings Changes in the Realms UI

Apart from moving the Locator Bar out of the Experimental features, this snapshot brings a few changes to the Realms configuration UI. The new layout will include four tabs: World, Players, Subscription, and Settings.

This makes it easier to manage the different parts of your Realm. Furthermore, we now have Regional Preferences, allowing us finer control over hosting locations and making online play more stable. Lastly, there are some minor changes to reduce the cloud range for optimizing the performance.

So that’s all about the latest changes brought in the Minecraft Snapshot 25W17A. Have you experienced the new features with your friends yet? Let us know in the comments below!
