- The Parched mob has been introduced in the Mounts of Mayhem update of Minecraft and is exclusive to the desert biomes.
- These mobs shoot weakness-tipped arrows and don't burn in the daylight.
- Defeating the Parched can drop bones, arrows, bows, armor, and XP as well.
Just as the players were getting used to the Nautilus and Zombie Horses mobs, Mojang came up with the Parched – a hostile one native to the desert biomes. This undead creature isn’t some skeleton with a tan and some bandages; rather, it’s tougher, uses tipped arrows, and will do anything to bring you down. So, go through this guide as it will help you know more about the Parched and what you can do to counter them.
What is the Parched Mob in Minecraft?

The Parched is a variant of the skeleton mob that spawns in the desert biomes and is introduced with the Mounts of Mayhem update. Unlike the regular skeletons, this one has a trick up its sleeve, or should we say, bandages. From the image above, it’s clear that the Parched won’t burn during the day, adding a challenge in exploring the dunes of Minecraft.
The Parched will replace 50% of the regular skeletons that spawn during the nighttime. They can appear in groups of a maximum of 4 per spawn, only when the light levels are 0. Moreover, Parched prefer spawning directly under the open skies and not inside the caves, similar to the Husks. At times, you may also notice these rogues riding the Camel Husks and firing arrows at you from the back seat.
How to Spawn and Despawn the Parched
In survival modes, the Parched will spawn naturally anywhere in a desert biome at nighttime, except for the caves. As mentioned above, they might appear individually, in groups, or mounted on a Camel Husk as the second rider behind the regular Husk mob.

Apart from that, when you’re in creative mode, you can simply use the Parched spawn egg to bring them to the overworld manually. Alternatively, you can also use the following command to spawn this mob in the game:
/summon minecraft:parched ~ ~ ~
The despawn mechanism for this mob is, however, the same as the rest of the hostile ones in the game. When the player is far enough from the Parched, it’ll dispawn automatically. Alternatively, you can switch to the Peaceful mode to dispawn them manually. But, if you want these mobs for specific farms, try giving them a name with the nametag to prevent dispawning.
What are the Properties of Parched in Minecraft
Since you now know where to find the Parched in Minecraft, take a look at all of its properties, its attack types, and a few tips to defend yourself from this mob.
1. Parched Health
The Parched has a total of 16 health points or 8 hearts, similar to a regular skeleton in Minecraft. However, you might find this mob gaining an additional 0-20 armor points depending on what armor it’s wearing. Taking into account all of this, you must be well prepared before you venture into the desert.
2. Attack Pattern
The Parched carries a bow and will shoot tipped arrows of Weakness at you. Similar to the Bogged in Minecraft, the Parched has a slower rate of attack; however can aim precisely, making each shot count.

On easy mode, the arrows can deal damage of 1.5 hearts, 2 hearts on normal mode, and 2.5 hearts on hard difficulty. Additionally, the weakness effect can stay for 30 seconds, making all your attacks do less damage during this period.
So, the easiest way to defeat the Parched is by carrying a shield and deflecting all its arrows. In addition to that, you must also use a sword with the Smite or Sharpness enchantment to deal with the hostile mob easily. Look for open windows to attack when the Parched is charging its arrow, and the fight won’t be difficult at all.
Minecraft Parched Drop: What Are the Rewards?
Once the Parched is defeated, you can get the following valuable loot:
- Bones: 0-2 (up to 5 with Looting 3)
- Arrows: 0-2 (up to 5 with Looting 3)
- Arrow of Weakness: 0-1 with Looting 3
- Equipment Drops: Bow and Armor (8.5% normally, while 11.5% with Looting 3)
- 5 XP Orbs and a bonus 1-3 XP if Parched has any armor.
The Parched adds a dangerous twist to the desert survival, and with its immunity to sunlight, you’ll have to come up with a good strategy to defeat them without losing much health. So, that completes all about the Parched in Minecraft, stating its behaviours, strengths, and weaknesses. Are you ready to take on this new mob in the game? Tell us in the comments below.
