The Mi Mix lineup from Xiaomi has always been marketed as the company’s innovative powerhouse, striving towards the goal of offering the latest innovations to users. Their primary objective was to offer a fullscreen bezel-less experience, which the Mi Mix 3 is known to have fulfilled with a slider design. It seems Xiaomi is now done with displays instead it plans to turn its attention to cameras – more specifically cameras with higher megapixel count and superzoom capabilities.
Xiaomi Product Director Wang Teng hinted at the inclusion of the latest periscope-cum-telephoto lens on the Mi Mix 4 on Weibo earlier today. An inquisitive user was curious about whether the Mi Mix 4 will get a superzoom telephoto lens or not. And Teng decided it’s time to intrigue users and said (translate from Chinese to English) “It is said that it should” in reply to that user.
This falls in line with Xiaomi’s recent patent approval, which revealed that Xiaomi is also toying with the periscope camera technology we’ve already seen on the Huawei P30 Pro and Oppo Reno 10x Zoom. This periscope lens module has garnered much praise for its incredible hybrid zoom capabilities, which now Xiaomi also wants to bank upon with the upcoming Mi Mix smartphone.
Apart from the rumored 64MP and periscope camera system, we expect the Mi Mix 4 to come backed by the newly announced Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset. Xiaomi has already divulged its plans to launch its first smartphone with this processor – Black Shark 2 Pro next week. We are still skeptical of the under-screen camera, which Xiaomi showed off earlier this year, finding its way to the Mi Mix 4 but the 100W super-fast charging could very well come in tow here.
