  • Marvel Rivals Season 4 will launch on September 12 at 9 AM UTC
  • The season brings Angela as the new Vanguard hero.
  • One new team up and tons of new features are set to arrive.

As Marvel Rivals Season 3.5, The Abyss Awakens, concludes, fans are eagerly anticipating Season 4, which will premiere on September 12, 2025. Season 3.5 introduced the fan-favorite duelist Blade, whose anti-healing skills and dynamic close-range combat threw the meta off, as well as the new Resource Rumble mode and the Klyntar: Throne of Knull map.

New skins like Scarlet Witch’s Phoenix Chaos and events like the Queen’s Codex kept players hooked, while balance adjustments improved tanks and competitive play. Now, Marvel Rivals is preparing for Season 4, Heart of the Dragon, which promises a new chapter in the superhero saga.

The season begins with Angela, a Vanguard who uses Ichor to make weapons like spears and shields, as a new hero, and more exciting additions. If you’re eager to learn what’s coming, read the early patch notes right here.

Marvel Rivals Season 4 Downtime Details

Marvel Rivals Season 4 downtime is expected to begin on September 12 at 9 AM UTC, as servers will begin to go offline during that time. Since seasonal maintenance schedules are quite longer, expect servers to be offline for at least 3 hours.

This means that you’ll be able to jump back in at around 12 Noon UTC when Season 4 finally goes live. Remember, since it’s a seasonal release, the patch size may be significantly larger, at around 30 GB, so make sure to allocate enough space on your device.

Marvel Rivals Season 4 Early Patch Notes

Angela Joins the Fight in Season 4

Marvel Rivals Season 4 introduces Angela as a new playable hero who will be a Vanguard in the game. The Norse Goddess and Thor’s sister, Angela, can use her Ichors to create Axe and Shield in combat and is a flying Vanguard who can dive into battle and rally her teammates behind her.

Her abilities suggest she’s a dive-heavy hero who possesses massive AoE damage capabilities and will play a vital role in clearing enemy frontlines to make way for Duelists and Strategists of the team. She also brings a new Team-Up with her brother, Thor, but more on that later in the patch notes.

Daredevil Emerges and Sets Up the Stage for Season 4.5

While Angela arrives at Rivals in Season 4, Daredevil has also been confirmed as an upcoming hero and will arrive in the Season 4.5 update.

Even though his ability kit and role haven’t been revealed as of yet, players speculate that he will join the roster as a Duelist.

New Convergence Map

According to NetEase, a brand new Heart of Heaven map will be added to the Quick Match, Practice, and Competitive modes as a Convergence map in Season 4. However, this map will not be added with the Season 4 launch.

Instead, it will be launched on September 25, as the new Season 4 inches closer to Season 4.5. This map will be the much-rumored K’un L’un map, which is the training grounds of Iron Fist and the resting place of ancient god Shou Lao.

New Team-Ups and Changes

A brand new Team-Up will be added to Marvel Rivals with Season 4 called Divine Armory. Angela will be the Team-Up Anchor and will share fragments of her Ichors with her brother, Thor.

This gives him the ability to throw a Thunder Spear that restores Thorforce upon hit. Afterward, Thor can leap to the spear’s impact point, dealing a second wave of damage to all enemies within range.

Coming to adjustments to existing Team-Ups, the Dimensional Shortcut between Black Panther and Magik is being removed. Instead, Magik joins the Arcane Order Team-Up with Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch, where she can unleash a Chain of Cyttorak that links two enemies and slows them. The farther they are apart, the greater the slow effect inflicted during the link.

Finally, Gamma Charge with Hulk and Namor welcomes Black Panther as a new member. His Vibranium Armor now gets a boost from gamma energy. When his HP drops below a certain threshold, he automatically activates a Gamma Shield to block incoming damage.

Hero Nerfs and Buffs

The hero meta will be readjusted with Season 4, with several Marvel Rivals heroes being nerfed or buffed. Here’s the table that lists heroes that are undergoing those changes.

Halloween Event

Among the game mode screens shown during the latest Dev Vision video for Season 4, Marvel Rivals leakers were quick to spot a Halloween Event tab, which led to a rumored special event coming next month. As per fans, this may coincide with Season 4.5 launch where Daredevil may bring some haunting festivities.

Arcade Mode Introduces New Game Modes

NetEase has announced that a dedicated Arcade Mode Hub will be added to Marvel Rivals with Season 4, which will also make popular game modes like Clone Rumble and Giant-Size Brain Blast permanent.

Furthermore, a new game mode called Free Fight will also be introduced, which has No Restrictions on duplicate heroes in a team. Which means you can summon a multiverse of characters to win against your enemies. Another new addition is a Conquest Annihilation mode, where players can Rack Up points via KOs.

Here are all the games that will be accessible from the single Arcade Mode hub: Conquest, Doom Match, Conquest (Annihilation), Free Fight, Giant-Size Brain Blast, and Clone Rumble. You’ll be able to queue for one game or several at once, making it easier for you to jump in how you want.

Players will be able to customize their Ultimate Ability VFX, which will be available to their enemies upon use. They can use these with their skin bundles and make their ults look more glorious than ever.

However, you’ll also be able to hide other players’ custom effects in a dedicated setting in the menu.

New Accessories Cosmetic Item

Marvel Rivals Season 4 is introducing a new Accessories cosmetic that players will be able to attach to their heroes’ costumes. These will be available after the September 25 update, for the following heroes: Magneto, Cloak and Dagger, Luna Snow, and Scarlet Witch.

Marvel Rivals Season 4 will finally add the much-awaited Slow Walk feature for PC players which will allow them to Aura Farm as a superhero mid-match. This feature makes an appearance after tons of Rivals players requested its addition on Keyboard input as it’s quite easier to perform on a controller.

Players will be able to download Gallery Cards that they unlock in the game, to use as their personal wallpaper or to use a high-res version of their rewards outside Rivals.

You’ll also be able to change your text chat color and add an emoji while communicating with your team or trolling your enemies during an ongoing match, starting September 18th.
