Devil Dinosaur, the Time-Lost Devil Beast, has finally been introduced as our new Vanguard in Marvel Rivals Season 8. Devil Dino may seem like a simple tank on the surface, but if you can chain his abilities, he can become a major threat to enemies. So, check out our guide, where we have gone over the character’s kit in detail and provided the best tips and tricks on how to play Devil Dinosaur in Marvel Rivals.
Marvel Rivals Devil Dinosaur Kit and Abilities
- Role: Vanguard
- Difficulty: 3 stars
- Health: 850 HP
Devil Dinosaur has escaped from the Collector’s museum and is on the way to Alchemax HQ to save his best friend, Moon Girl. He may seem like an adorable T. Rex, but his superhuman levels of strength, lethal talons, and bone-crushing jaws make him a Prehistoric Powerhouse and one of the best Vanguards we have in the game.
His entire abilities kit has been designed around T.Rex’s dangerous features. For starters, his primary attack, Primal Bite, is biting enemies, which deals damage and applies a bleed effect that continuously depletes enemy health bars.
He can shoot energy beams out of his mouth, which not only applies a bleed effect but also slows down the enemies. Dealing damage and inflicting bleed effect automatically gives him bonus health as it’s his passive. In addition, he gets reduced damage from critical hits, is immune to launch-up, and knocks back like The Thing. And lastly, enemies and allies can only produce a small amount of Ultimate Ability Energy when damaging or healing him.
As you can see here, Devil Dinosaur’s kit is not as complex as the previous hero, Black Cat. You can discover all of Devil Dino’s abilities in the table below:
| Ability Name | Input Button and Ability Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Primal Bite | Left Click (Primary Attack) | Bite forward. Applies a Bleed that deals continuous Percentage Damage. |
| Impact Beam | Right Click | Unleash a devastating beam of energy that inflicts a bleed and slows. Knocks down airborne targets. |
| Savage Predation | L Shift | Dash and pounce on your prey with a vicious bite, applying a bleed. If the target is already bleeding, clamp down before hurling them away. |
| Buddy Barrier | E | Activate the heart-shaped generator to expand a spherical shield that blocks incoming damage. Enemies caught within are slowed. |
| Frenzied Feast | F | Unleash a flurry of continuous bites, converting the damage dealt into Bonus Health. Deals extra damage against bleeding targets |
| Devil-Beast Rampage | Q (Ultimate) | Erupt in primal fury! Gain a massive Movement Speed Boost while unleashing earth-shattering stomps that launch enemies and apply a bleed. Thunderous roars also emit sonic waves that slow enemies’ hits. |
| Prehistoric Plating | Passive | Take reduced damage from critical hits. Immune to launch-up, knock-back, and other displacement effects. Enemies and allies generate less Ultimate Ability Energy when damaging or healing him. |
| Apex Advantage | Passive | Gain bonus health when you inflict bleeding and deal damage. |
| Primal Punishment | Team-Up | The Punisher rides atop Devil Dinosaur. While mounted, The Punisher gains Damage Reduction, and Devil Dinosaur absorbs a portion of all damage inflicted on The Punisher. |
How to Play Devil Dinosaur in Marvel Rivals: Best Meta Gameplay Explained
Devil Dinosaur is a hybrid of Brawler and Anchor tanks due to his unique set of abilities in Marvel Rivals Season 8. So, as a Devil Dinosaur, your goal is to hurt and tear apart the enemy frontline while also protecting your teammates with defensive capabilities. Do not think of Devil Dino as a dive tank like Venom. While he needs to be aggressive and can leap into the backline, he will be buried deep in the ground in minutes without any necessary heals.
Once the match commences, lead the charge and begin inflicting the bleed effect on as many enemies in the front line. One of the best moves of Devil Dino is to grab the bleeding enemy with his jaws and throw them back into ally territory. Just like Winter Soldier’s 180-degree hook, you can grab enemies and bring them to your backline, so that your team members can lend a hand in quickly eliminating the enemy tank.
In this way, you can clear the enemy’s front line and move on to deal with the remaining Duelists and Strategists next, which will be much easier to do with their tanks gone. So take control of your surrounding area, stay on the side of your healers, and if any flyers keep bugging you, unleash your Impact Beam (which has a refill bar). Use your bubble shield to protect your team and yourself from CC. This is how the gameplay loop looks for a new Devil Dinosaur player.
The best things about Devil Dinosaur are his team-up and ultimate ability. The new team-up: Primal Punishment lets The Punisher ride on top of the beast. They both get shared heals, and even the damage gets split between them when they are together. So, make sure you always have a Punisher on your side.
And finally, double D’s Devil-Beast Rampage is easily one of the best ultimate abilities in Marvel Rivals if you can time it right. Once activated, there is a significant boost to your movement speed, and all your continuous stomps knock down enemies and apply a bleed effect. The best time to use your ultimate is when you see a crowd.
Leap into action with the Savage Predation ability and use your ult immediately. All your abilities’ cooldown times are significantly reduced. With a constant bleed effect, all you need to do is keep biting normally or do the Frenzied Feast attack and fire your beam to kill the low HP enemies one by one. You can also pair your ult with Punisher to wipe out the whole squad.
Best Tips and Tricks for Playing Devil Dinosaur in Marvel Rivals
Now that you have learned how to play Devil Dinosaur the right way and how lethal it can be in the latest Marvel Rivals meta tier list, here are a few tips and tricks to completely master the character in the game:
- Focus on Grabbing tanks: Apply a bleed effect to the first enemy tank you see, use Savage Predation to grab the enemy, and throw him back to your squad. Assist your squad by biting back the target and swiftly eliminating him. Repeat this process and make your way into the enemy backline.
- Use Your Team-Up: The new Primal Punishment team-up is overpowered now. So make sure to team up with your Punisher and unleash chaos on the battlefield.
- Avoid Diving into the Backlines: Do not try to dive the backline at the start of the game. Only set your sights on the enemy support line if the front line has been breached already.
- Learn the Simple Combos: Thankfully, all of Devil Dinosaur’s combos are very simple and easy to learn. For example: your starter combo could be something like bite/beam > apply bleed > Savage Predation > grab and throw back the enemy > Buddy Barrier to slow down the enemy and block incoming attack >Frenzied Feast to finish off.
- Time your Buddy Barrier: Do not keep spamming your buddy barrier shield like a Doctor Strange main. Instead, use it wisely when you need to shield yourself from an Iron Man ult or a Mantis trying to make you fall asleep. Since this shield is dome-shaped, it offers better protection overall.
- Use your Melee: If you get caught between two enemies, front and back. You can use your primary fire and melee at the same time. Basically, you can bite the enemy in front of you and use your long tail to sweep the enemy behind you. Not everyone knows that you can do both attacks at the same time.
Best Counters for Devil Dinosaur in Marvel Rivals
In many ways, Devil Dinosaur can be considered the new meta Vanguard hero, but the T.rex does have a big weakness that players can exploit.
