- The new Marvel Rivals Avengers PvP mode is live now.
- Players can use the new role queue option to play as either heroes or the trickster god Loki.
- Additionally, players can equip any hero from the Rivals roster in the All Heroes sub-mode.
The Marvel Rivals Avengers PvP mode is finally here as part of the April 30 update, and it’s an absolute blast. This is the first of many events scheduled throughout 2026, leading up to the release of the Avengers: Doomsday movie. If you have been waiting to play as either world’s mightiest heroes or the God of Mischief, discover how to play Marvel Rivals Avengers PvP mode here.
Is There a Role Queue in Marvel Rivals Avengers PvP Mode?
Surprisingly, devs have included a ‘Role Queue’ feature for the new Avengers PvP mode in Marvel Rivals. Before you kick off a match of Path to Doomsday: The Avengers mode in-game, you will notice that there is a new option to select your role before you queue a match. Since the new Marvel Rivals Avengers PvP mode is a 1v6 battle, players are free to select the side they want to play as before the match.
There are three roles to select: Heroes, Loki, and Flexible. If you select Heroes, you will only be able to pick up the World’s Mightiest Heroes roles. And the Loki option is available to pick only during solo plays. Similarly, if you are okay with either playing as heroes or Loki, then you can select the Flexible option when queuing solo.
This is an excellent move to let players decide whatever role they want to play during this limited-time mode. In addition, you can also choose between the Classic mode (features only Avengers) or select the All Heroes mode, which gives you access to the full Marvel Rivals hero roster.
The new Avengers mode is a single game of Domination. No best-of-three rounds anymore, so either the Avengers or the Asgardian trickster will come out on top by capturing the mission area. Thus, each game of Avengers PvP mode takes only 7-10 minutes.
How to Win as Loki in Marvel Rivals Avengers PvP Mode
Now that you have learned about the role queue and the different sub-modes available in the Avengers PvP mode, let’s discuss how to play and win as Loki in the new mode. To be honest, playing as Loki is the best way to play the new mode than playing as the powerful Avengers. You enter the arena in the classic Loki costume from the Avengers (2012) movie, and you will immediately notice that you have a gigantic 3500 HP in-game.
This is more than enough to do a 1v6 fight against the Earth’s mightiest heroes. And on top of it, you have an expanded kit featuring new abilities and an ultimate ability for Loki. The only primary fire option for Loki is to unleash energy blasts from his scepter. However, the new abilities are where the fun is.
The new ‘Illusion Bombardment’ conjures an illusion that does a heavy AoE attack. This should be your go-to ability to hurt the Avengers when they surround you all at once. Next, the ‘Bend the Knee’ ability lets you mind control the opponents for a brief time.
This is such a good ability that makes the opponents switch sides and attack their own team. You can even further take control of their body with the ‘Puppet Strings’ and deal damage to the other heroes. You don’t have to worry about your main body as AI will take care of it.
Besides these new abilities, you have your regular Loki abilities, such as teleporting to an illusion and becoming invisible by conjuring an illusion. Finally, Loki’s new ‘Chrono-Chaos Command’ ultimate ability lets you summon the Avengers from an alternate reality (bots) to fight against the original Avengers. And as you might guess, you can take control of any of them as well.
So playing as Loki is now easier than ever with the massive health pool and the numerous overpowered abilities in the PvP mode. Just make sure to spam your AoE attack when the heroes corner you, use the Bend the Knee precisely to turn even a group of your foes into your soldiers for a brief moment.
If you are playing on a map with drop zones, then take control of your opponent’s body and let them walk to their deaths, because why not? Lastly, unleash Loki’s new ultimate ability to overwhelm the heroes and take over the mission area.
How to Win as Avengers in Marvel Rivals Avengers PvP Mode
On the other hand, playing as the Avengers is the same as your usual Marvel Rivals matches. Only the hero roster is now limited to six heroes: Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Hawkeye, and Black Widow. So, you will not be able to pick the Strategist heroes like Gambit in the game during this mode.
All six hero kits remain the same, and you have the good-old Marvel Rivals team-ups and abilities. There is only one addition to every hero. As you deal damage, a new ability begins to recharge. Once it’s full, you can unleash the new ability to summon Hulk in his ultimate form and smash Loki. Other than that, it’s the usual six-team hero against a single opponent.
Think of Loki as a final PvE boss like Dracula from the recent Blood Hunt mode. Use your abilities wisely and keep focusing on dealing damage to the God of Mischief, as he has a whopping 3500 HP. Stay away from his Illusion Bombardment attacks, as the AoE attack will easily kill you if you are playing as a Duelist. Since there are no healers to heal you, you have to rely on the health packs scattered across the map.
When Loki begins to mind control you, there is nothing you can do except rely on your fellow teammates to free you by attacking or wait until the magic dissipates. And you can easily eliminate all the heroes he summons via his new ultimate ability. Thus, taking a win back home as the Earth’s mightiest hero is a walk in the park. Just play your role in the squad to the fullest, and you can defeat Loki.
If you don’t like playing as the Avengers or struggling to play without a healer, then select the All Heroes mode. Now you can go against Loki as your favorite hero from the massive Marvel Rivals roster and win the game.
This is easily one of the most fun limited-time modes added to Marvel Rivals. So, make sure to play as Loki or the Avengers before it leaves the game. That said, if you have already played the new mode, let us know your thoughts about it in the comments below.
