Loki Season 2 Episode 4 Ending Explained: Is Loki Dead?

Okay so, let me say it out loud that I hate Marvel for how they leave us with a new and bigger cliffhanger with every single episode of Loki season 2. Episode 4 of Loki just aired and I won’t lie, it was packed with certain elements that made this episode quite interesting to watch. However, there were certain unexpected events in this episode that none of us saw coming our way, for instance, O.B. or Ouroborus literally spelling out the meaning of his name, or him admitting that every invention of his was inspired by Victor Timely’s journals. Pretty crazy, right? There are a ton of questions in our minds regarding Loki Season 2 Episode 4 and I’m going to answer a few of those here. So, without much further ado, let’s dive right into it!

Is Victor Timely Really Dead in Loki Season 2?

One of the biggest highlights of Loki season 2 was the possibility of Victor Timely, played by Jonathan Majors, turning into a formidable force as one of the variants of Kang. However, Marvel had other plans regarding his character, well, to kill him. Victor Timely appeared in Loki S2E2, where we get to see that he is a con man living in the 19th century.

Renslayer and Miss Minutes get to him and so do Mobius and Loki, trying to protect him from Sylvie and using his help to open the blast doors of TVA to access the temporal loom. We did expect him to gradually take up the role of “He Who Remains” but instead of being a villain, Victor Timely turned out to be a good guy who helped solve the problems faced by Ouroboros.

By the end of Loki Season 2 Episode 4, when Loki volunteers to go to the loom to place the device, Victor shows some unexpected bravery and takes up the responsibility of fixing the temporal loom by walking through the blast doors as Mobius did in the first Episode. However, as soon as Victor walks through the blast doors exposing himself to the temporal radiation, he is instantly, well, spaghettified.

Now the big question here is, is Victor Timely really dead? In my opinion, there are two answers to this question. If we look at it purely based on circumstantial evidence, it seems that Victor Timely has indeed died trying to serve a greater purpose. But, if we consider the whole situation, we see certain things going on.

First, we get to know that the person who pruned Loki in the first episode was none other than Loki himself, putting forward a theory that the whole TVA is trapped in a time loop. Since the time loom exploded instantly after Victor’s death, there’s a possibility that the whole timeline gets reset for good, thus, entertaining the possibility that Victor might not stay dead for a long time. However, these are just speculations and to know what actually will happen, we will have to wait for Loki Season 2 Episode 5.

Loki Season 2 Episode 4: Will the Timeline Get Reset?

By the end of Loki Season 2 Episode 4, we get to see that the Temporal Loom is now damaged beyond repair and Victor Timely laid down his life in an attempt to fix it. As the episode ended, we saw the loom explode and the episode came to an end with a major cliffhanger. Now we know that Loki cannot die at this point in time since two more episodes of Loki are left to be streamed, but what can happen here is the timeline might get reset.

We see that Loki was the one who pruned himself in episode 1 of Loki season 2 and I might know why. Loki somewhere knew that he would not be able to save the TVA and if he wanted to give himself another chance at saving it, he needed to make sure the events of episode 1 take place. So, he pruned his older self right in time to make his time slipping stop so he could go out and start this adventure all over again.

However, now you may be wondering how is this relevant here, let me answer that. The Temporal loom kept all of the timeline flowing and if it had exploded, there’s a possibility that time itself would have gone out of existence, causing the whole of time to reset which in itself is a catastrophic event. Loki pruning himself is proof that it had happened before and the events keep repeating themselves.

Time has not been annihilated as a whole but the events up to episode 4 might be reset. Anyhow, all I can do is create speculation, and how true it stands is yet to be seen in the upcoming episodes of Loki season 2.

Is Miss Minutes Dead?

If there’s one character whose death we are glad about, it has to be Miss Minutes. The autonomous and sentient holographic assistant created by He Who Remains, no matter how adorable she looked, turned out to be an absolute psychopath in episode 3 of Loki season 2. In fact, she is considered one of the main villains of Loki Season 2.

Now, the question is, whether this evil Terminator-ish AI is dead or not. In the final moments of Loki Season 2 Episode 4, Ouroborus had to reboot the systems of TVA, which meant that the dampening devices set in place at TVA would stop working. As a result, Loki and Sylvie would be able to use magic in the TVA and another effect of this reboot would be that Miss Minutes would be erased from TVA systems.

So, is Miss Minutes dead? Yes, for now, she is, and I will not be surprised if I see Renslayer bring her back somehow. Although, I wouldn’t like to see that twisted holographic AI back.

Loki Season 2 Episode 4 Post Credit Scene?

Loki Season 2 Episode 4 ended with quite a cliffhanger and that left people wondering if Marvel will decide to give us a little insight on what is going to happen next like you know, a post-credit scene. However, Marvel decided to keep us in a gut-wrenching suspense.

Now, coming to the question, is there a post-credit scene in Loki Season 2 Episode 4, well, the answer is a big, simple no. Episode 4 just ends abruptly with a bright flash on Loki’s face, and I guess we will have to wait for episode 5 to come out to quench our thirst for some answers.
