An early report by Variety stated that the anticipated Kpop Demon Hunters 2 will be released sometime in 2029. However, in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the presidents of Sony Pictures Animation clearly revealed that the sequel’s release will go beyond 2029. Well, it makes sense because the first film entered production in 2021 and didn’t hit the screens until 2025.
Who Could Be There in KPop Demon Hunters Sequel?
Kpop Demon Hunters has officially entered the production stage, with Netflix and Sony Pictures Animation as collaborators. Also, following the massive success of the first film, Maggie Kang is indeed returning to carry the legacy forward in the sequel. What Could Be the Plot of KPop Demon Hunters 2?
The first film reveals Rumi’s half-demon identity, but it does not explain how her mother, a demon hunter, fell in love with a demon. So, the sequel might explore their backstory and reveal more about Rumi’s heritage. Rumi may experience inner turmoil as she balances her human and demon sides. There are also chances that we can see her struggle to control her demonic powers.
Also, as the Honmoon is still blue, demons can still enter the Earth without being detected. Gwi-Ma can also return in the sequel project with the help of the surviving Saja Boys members.
