Gege Akutami surprised the entire fandom by giving us Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, the JJK sequel series that we never saw coming our way. Regardless, Modulo has great potential, and it expands on the already massive JJK Universe. The series will focus on Yuta and Maki’s grandchildren, Yuka and Tsurugi, who are truly incredible sorcerers. However, the second chapter of the spin-off series has confirmed the power level of yet another main character of the series. And yes, this strange new character is on par with Ryomen Sukuna.

In the first chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, we are introduced to Yuka and Tsurugi, but apart from them, we also learn that there’s an alien race called Simurians who are seeking refuge on Earth. In fact, the third main character of the series, Maru, is a member of the Simurian race. Maru possesses a third eye and is incredibly powerful, and he gives a glimpse of his power in the first chapter of Modulo. Initially, Yuka and Tsurugi couldn’t even believe in the existence of aliens, but Maru not only made them believe in aliens by revealing the truth, but he also implied how strong the Simurian race actually is.

Of course, Maru is on Yuka and Tsurugi’s side, and he is helping the duo prevent the abduction of human children. However, it’s needless to say that not all Simurians will play nicely with humans like Maru. In fact, the leader or the King of the Simurian race doesn’t seem empathetic towards humans, and yes, he is much stronger than Maru.

Interestingly, in Chapter 2 of JJK Modulo, a trafficker makes it obvious to Tsurugi that the threat level of the Simurian alien race is as strong, lethal, and destructive as Ryomen Sukuna. Yes, the same Sukuna who almost destroyed Japan 68 years back. Like Sukuna, this mysterious horned leader of Simurians can level an entire city in the blink of an eye. So, it’s understandable why the Japanese authorities are playing nice with Simurians. They don’t want to unleash such unearthly power on humans by offending them.

68 years back, it took the combined powers of Yuji, Gojo, Yuta, and many other characters to stop Sukuna. Now, the responsibility to stop this Sukuna-level alien threat will lie on the shoulders of Yuka and Tsurugi. However, it remains to be seen what role Maru would play in all this. Will he betray his own people and go against the King of Simurians’ plan on eradicating the human race, or will he become an enemy of Yuka, Tsurugi, or the entire human race? We would have to wait for the next chapters to gain more clarity on this Sukuna-level threat or the true purpose of Maru.
