Every One Piece fan was waiting to meet the left hand of the Pirate King, Gol D. Roger, and Scopper Gaban finally graced us in the Elbaf arc. The old man’s encounter with Luffy and Zoro revealed that he has lost none of his might. With the God’s Knights wreaking havoc on Elbaf island, we expected Gaban to save the day. And as fate would have it, Gaban showed up when Sommers and Gunko had caught Elbaf’s kids and some of the Straw Hats.

From the moment of his arrival, Gaban wasted no time in slashing Sommers and countering his regeneration abilities. Gaban, in a rush to save his son, Colon, decimates Sommers in One Piece chapter 1149 by slashing his body in half with his axe. As soon as Gaban defeats Sommers, he dashes to rescue his son and the rest of the Giant’s children from Gunko’s grasp.
Then, Gaban charges towards Gunko to knock out yet another God’s Knight member, but using his observation haki, he notices the imminent future where she stabs his kid’s neck with her arrow devil fruit powers.
With his son’s life at stake, Gaban doesn’t wish to gamble on taking down Gunko further. So, he drops his axes and surrenders to the Holy Knight as it’s the only option left to save his kid. Gunko doesn’t waste this opportunity; she fires her powerful arrows at him, sending him plummeting to his death in the underworld.
This panel indicates that Gaban is gravely injured by Gunko’s devastating attacks. To top it off, Gaban falls to his death as he is pushed from a branch in the Sun World. Now, the question is – is Scopper Gaban dead in One Piece?
The likely answer is no, not yet! Chopper started tailing Gaban to find out how he countered the immortality powers of the God’s Knights. It’s easy to miss this detail, but if you look closely, it seems like Chopper also jumped off the cliff to save the old man. So, the likely scenario is that both Scopper and Gaban will be saved by Luffy and the other giants who are currently patching up Loki in the underworld.
Once they are rescued mid-fall, Chopper, along with Gerd, will likely treat Gaban’s wounds and get him back in shape. However, one thing is clear: Gaban probably won’t be back in action for the rest of the Elbaf arc. The monster trio (Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji) will learn about the rampage happening in the Sun World, and they will take care of things from here.
Now, Gaban may also train them on how they can nullify the Holy Knight’s regeneration ability, as it’s their key to defeating them.
