Chishiya made us hate him when he first appeared in Alice in Borderland Season 1. Well, he never appeared as a major antagonist, but he surely played a villainous role in the ‘Beach arc’ of the story. He tricked Arisu and Usagi, causing the former to get beaten up by Aguni and his gang. However, with time, he captivated the hearts of the global audience with his sharp wit and clever mind. However, the official trailers of Alice in Borderland Season 3 didn’t feature Chishiya anywhere. So, is Chishiya in Alice in Borderland Season 3?
Does Chishiya Appear in Alice in Borderland Season 3?
No, Chishiya doesn’t appear in a major role in Alice in Borderland Season 3, but he has a short cameo in the final episode. Chishiya (played by Nijiro Murakami) returns to the real world following Arisu and Usagi’s final confrontation with Mira, the Queen of Hearts. However, the AIB final season still didn’t feature him for the last battle.
According to reports, Murakami has taken a hiatus from acting to focus on his health at the moment. Several rumors also state that Alice in Borderland Season 3 had room for Chishiya, but the creators had to alter the script due to the actor’s health issues.
Besides that, the previous season adapted the entire Alice in Borderland manga. So, even if the final season were to cover the events from Retry, the Manga sequel of Alice in Borderland, it would have primarily focused on Arisu and Usagi, if compared to the other characters we met in the previous seasons.
Alice in Borderland Season 3 features an original story while incorporating minor elements from Retry. For instance, Arisu and Usagi are married in Retry, and the third season shows the same. However, apart from that, unlike the sequel, Alice in Borderland Season 3 sees Usagi mysteriously vanish with Ryuji Matsuyama, the new enigmatic character of the series. Following the tragedy, Arisu follows his wife to Purgatory and once again plays brutal games. The third season mainly keeps the leading pair in the limelight, so the creators made the right choice to keep Chishiya out of the picture.
