Last week, we had reported about Instagram’s new Portrait and slow-mo mode on Stories. It was first spotted by a user who conducted an APK teardown and found an icon labeled ‘portrait_shutter_icon.’ However now, the company has confirmed that they’re testing a new portrait mode feature called ‘Focus.’
The new ‘Focus’ mode was spotted by a user called Pippa Akram, who happens to be one of the few users who have the feature. Just like any other modes, i.e., Boomerang, Superzoom, etc. the new Focus feature can be accessed by swiping from the bottom.
The feature will initially ask you to find a face to get started. As of now, it’s quite hard to predict how this feature will work; however, here’s what it looks like.
We could speculate that Instagram ‘Focus’ photos could eventually match the ones taken on Pixel’s stock camera. Lastly, it is worth making a note that Instagram has confirmed to TechCrunch that they’re testing this new feature. Here’s what the company said, “We are testing a camera format that lets you easily capture artistic quality photos and video, as another way to improve the experience on Instagram and make it easier to share everyday moments with the people who matter to you.”
