A brand new set of lanterns has made its way into the game with the Minecraft 1.21.9 ‘The Copper Age’ update. The copper lanterns come in a set of eight variants, just like any copper block. Unlike the orange and blue hues of the regular and soul lanterns, respectively, the copper lanterns emit a green light. Items Need to Make Minecraft Copper Lantern

Making a copper lantern is easy since you only need two basic ingredients as follows:

A copper torch is the first requirement, and it can be made using a stick, a piece of coal or charcoal, and a copper nugget.

As for where you will find copper nuggets, all you need is some raw copper mined from copper ores, which you can then smelt to make ingots. These ingots will each give you 9 copper nuggets in return. Alternatively, you can also smelt copper tools and items to get nuggets as well. Finally, get a crafting table in Minecraft to make yourself the lantern.

Steps to Craft Copper Lantern in Minecraft

Once all materials are ready, follow the given steps to make a copper lantern in Minecraft:

  • Place the crafting table anywhere, and right-click on it to use its UI.
  • Put the copper torch at the center of the 3×3 grid, and then surround it with the 8 copper nuggets in each cell.
  • This gives you a single copper lantern on the right cell, which is always the unoxidized one.
  • Simply drag it from there to store it in your inventory for use elsewhere.

All Uses of Copper Lantern in Minecraft

The main use of copper lanterns is as a Minecraft light source, providing a light level of 15. We had the standard and the soul lanterns in the game for a long while. The copper lanterns finally bring a much-needed variety to this item in the game. With this new addition, I can now decorate my base with rusty brown and some green lanterns as well, due to its various states.

The unoxidized ones come in a rusty brown color, and they slowly turn greener as they oxidize. If you don’t like the green color, either scrape off that layer using an axe or use a honeycomb to lock its state.

Did you know you could hang lanterns using the chains in Minecraft? Now that copper chains have been introduced in ‘The Copper Age‘ update, it will be worth adding them to your base as well.
