How to Install GTA 5 Map Editor Mod

Before we get started, keep in mind that installing the GTA 5 Map Editor is a complex process that requires downloading multiple third-party applications. These include: Script Hook V, Script Hook V.NET, and NativeUI.

Ensure you get these files using the recommended links before downloading the popular Map Editor mod by Guadmaz. They appear on your system as zip files, so make sure to extract them as well. Once all of this is completed, follow the steps below to install it:

  • Open the folder with all the extracted files right beside the GTA 5 install directory on your computer.
    • If you’re running the game using Steam, the default directory will be – C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto V.
    • Similarly, if you’re using Epic Games launcher, the default directory will be – C:\Program Files\Epic Games\GTAV.
  • Now, open the Script Hook V folder, go into the sub-folder named ‘Bin‘, and copy-paste its contents into the GTA 5 folder.
  • After this, open up the Script Hook V.NET folder, and copy-paste all of its files into the game folder as well.
  • Once this is done, create a new folder in the installation directory named ‘scripts‘. Make sure that all the letters are lowercase.
  • For the next step, copy the extracted files from the NativeUI zip folder into the new ‘scripts‘ folder.
  • Lastly, go into the extracted map editor folder and copy all its contents before pasting them into the ‘scripts’ folder.

We recommend starting with the ‘Enter Map Editor’ option situated at the very beginning of the menu. This will allow you to operate the camera using the mouse freely, and you can also start spawning various props. To do this, press the F key, and a list of props, along with their visual appearance, will begin to display. If you’re searching for a specific prop, such as a platform to jump cars off, tap the Spacebar and type ‘ramp’ into the text box.

If you’re looking to spawn unique pedestrians, press the P key after entering the Map Editor. Similarly, you can press the V key to summon vehicles. Once you’re done gathering props, press the F7 key and select the ‘Exit Map Editor’ option to resume gameplay.
